WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS 2026

Today, Thursday, 30th July 2026, marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

This year's theme, "Trapped Behind the Scam," draws attention to the growing threat of human trafficking linked to forced criminality in online cyber-fraud operations. Many victims are lured through deceptive online job offers and false promises, only to be exploited and forced into criminal, immoral and unlawful activities among others against their will.

FIDA Nigeria, Oyo State Branch joins the global community in condemning all forms of human trafficking and calls for stronger collaboration among governments, law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations, technology companies, and the public to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and bring perpetrators to justice.

We also urge members of the public to remain vigilant, verify online opportunities, and help raise awareness about the tactics used by traffickers. Together, we can expose these scams, protect vulnerable persons, and build a society where everyone can live in freedom, dignity, and safety.
