October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Deaf women deserve breast health information in a language they understand. Without sign language access, important messages leave them behind.

Take time to know how your breasts normally look and feel. If you notice a new lump, thickening, swelling, or unusual skin or ni**le changes, seek medical care promptly. Self-checks do not replace breast screening.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Many Deaf women are left out of breast cancer awareness programmes because organisers do not provide sign language interpreters or accessible information. They miss opportunities to learn, ask questions, and understand where to seek care.

Missing important breast health information puts their health at risk. A Deaf woman facing breast cancer should not have to struggle with communication barriers while dealing with her diagnosis and treatment.

At Adeniyi Oyebade Foundation, we call on health providers and programme organisers to include Deaf women from the start. Provide Sign Language interpreters and explain health information clearly.

Deaf women deserve to understand their health, make informed decisions, and receive care with dignity.

Include Deaf women. Make breast cancer awareness and care accessible.

As we celebrate, we remain committed to building a Nigeria where Deaf people and persons with disabilities have equal access to education, sports, empowerment, leadership, and opportunities.

The people who made our grand finale special.

Students, footballers, business beneficiaries, guests, volunteers and the AOF team came together at Western Hall on 23 September 2026. We celebrated their achievements in education, sport and business, and launched the AOF National Scholarship.

For many Deaf people, communication barriers affect access to these opportunities. AOF is proud to bring people together, recognise their work and help open more doors for inclusion.

AOF celebrated 20 beneficiaries through our Business Empowerment Programme at the grand finale on 23 September 2026.

Each beneficiary received a ₦50,000 grant to invest in their current business. We also presented business tools, including a sewing machine, shoemaking machine, hair dryer, blender machine and hair clipper set.

Communication barriers often make business training and support harder to access. We want persons with disabilities to have the tools, funding and opportunity to grow the businesses they have worked to build.

Congratulations to the winners of the AOF Deaf Students Quiz Competition!

Six schools took part on 21 September 2026 at Western Hall, Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. We celebrated the winners at our grand finale.

Junior category
1st: Andrew Foster Memorial College
2nd: SPED International School
3rd: Durbar Grammar School

Senior category
1st: Ijokodo High School
2nd: SPED International School
3rd: Durbar Grammar School

In each category, AOF awarded ₦50,000 for first place, ₦30,000 for second place and ₦20,000 for third place. The first-place prizes also included O’Level scholarships. Winners received learning materials, including school bags, books and mathematics sets, according to their placement.

Communication barriers should not keep Deaf students out of academic competitions. This quiz gave students a chance to show their knowledge and receive recognition for their hard work.

Congratulations to every student who took part. Thank you to the teachers, judges, sign language interpreters and volunteers who supported them.

Congratulations to Ibarapa, champions of the AOF Deaf Unity Cup 2026

Ibarapa defeated Ogun 3–1 in the final. Ogun finished second, while Ogbomoso took third place. AOF awarded ₦500,000 to Ibarapa, ₦300,000 to Ogun and ₦100,000 to Ogbomoso.

Eight teams took part in the competition at Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan. Every team brought skill, determination and pride to the pitch.

Communication barriers often limit Deaf people’s access to organised sport. AOF brought these teams together to give Deaf footballers a place to compete and receive the recognition they deserve.
