Promise Kept!

We have started calling successful participants from our World Youth Skills Day 2025 event.

Their 6-month scholarship opportunity to learn and intern in their preferred skills is now becoming a reality.

We are deeply grateful to our partners, trainers, and sponsors who helped turn this from a promise made into a promise kept. This proves that young dreams are valid and achievable.

Let us go do even more. More skills, more impact, more transformation.

We acknowledge and sincerely appreciate the presence of the Arise&Win Project team from the Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, at the venue of our event. Their commitment to understanding the experiences of young people and deepening the evidence around empowerment initiatives like ours is invaluable. As we continue to explore ways to bridge employment and employability gaps in Nigeria, their work will be instrumental in helping us determine the real impact of our efforts and guide future interventions. We are grateful for this collaboration and look forward to what lies ahead as we all work to strengthen the economy, health, and wellbeing of Nigeria’s youth.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership this year with Bimolara International Hospital for the event. Their generous support included the provision of an ambulance to strengthen our emergency response system, ensuring participants' safety throughout the day. In addition, their dedicated medical team is onsite to offer first aid and attend to any health concerns that may arise during the programme. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to the wellbeing and empowerment of young people.

Our Lead Speaker today, Motolani Akintayo, a Clinical Psychologist and passionate Mental Health Advocate, blew the roof off ignorance with her powerful session! She challenged the reductionist view that limits mental health to 'madness' and brought clarity: mental health is about how you feel, how you think, and how you behave.

She shed light on commonly overlooked conditions like anxiety disorders, intermittent explosive disorder, and others that many silently battle. She emphasised that unresolved mental health concerns can hinder skills acquisition and personal growth. She also gave us first aid tips for our mental health, including learning to speak out, amongst other things.

Her message was clear: prioritise your mental wellbeing so you can live fully, function optimally, and thrive in every area of life.

It was a pleasure to listen to our Communications Lead, Oluwapemi Adedewe Akintan, as she gave the Opening Remarks at the event. She reminded everyone of the power of what’s already in their hands — their skills, creativity, and potential. Her words were a powerful call to action: to stop waiting and start building, to use what we have to create what we need. With the right mindset and a willingness to grow, young people can turn their skills into solutions and rewrite their own stories.
