INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GE***AL MUTILATION

The Medical Women's Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Oyo State Branch, joins the global community in raising awareness and advocating for the elimination of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

FGM is a human rights violation that infringes on the fundamental rights of girls and women. The injury of female ge***alia for non-medical reasons can have short-term to lifelong health impacts on physical, s*xual, and mental health, spanning from childhood, reproductive years, and into old age.

Over 230 million girls and women worldwide are living with its consequences, with millions more still at risk.

Theme: Towards 2030: _No End to FGM Without Sustained Commitment and Investment_

To achieve an FGM-free future, we must:
📍 invest sustainably,
📍strengthen health systems,
📍engage communities,
📍provide survivor-centred care, and commit unwaveringly to protecting the girl child.

MWAN Oyo remains committed to collaborating and partnering with other agencies to promote the health, rights, and well-being of women and girls 🤝.

📍Together, let's say NO to FGM, now and always
