For us at MAYEIN, independence is not just a date on the calendar. It is about the kind of Nigeria we are helping to build, and who gets to shape it.

It is an adolescent discovering the confidence to read, a girl learning to speak up about decisions that affect her, and a young person gaining the skills, opportunities and civic understanding to participate meaningfully in their communities.

This is why we continue to invest in inclusive learning for all, girls’ leadership and boys’ development, youth development and civic consciousness, because the Nigeria we want tomorrow will be shaped by what we make possible for young people today.

As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, we celebrate the people and communities working, learning and contributing every day to move our country forward.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬

Happy birthday to our dear Mummy Ajomale! ❤️🎉

Today, we celebrate a very special member of the MAYEIN family.

Mummy A has been a steady and caring presence for our young people. As our volunteer counsellor, she gives her time, listens, offers advice, and is always there when our users need someone to talk to.

We truly appreciate the love and care you bring to what we do. Thank you for being there for our children and young people, and for being such a wonderful part of the MAYEIN family.

Happy birthday, Mummy! 🥰🎂

We pray that this new year brings you good health, peace, joy and many beautiful reasons to smile.

We love and appreciate you. ❤️

As we wrap up the holidays, we can’t help but miss the amazing time we had with our SMART Library Ojoo users during our Summer Camp Make-a-thon.

For one week, our users explored new activities each day. From creating AI videos, and making cinnamon rolls and crunchy corn dogs, to designing their own fascinators, and learning basic sign language.

There was a lot of fun, questions, teamwork, trial and error, and plenty of laughter along the way. 💙

We really enjoyed seeing them get involved in each activity, giving it their best shot and proudly showing us what they had made!

This is what we want our MAYEIN SMART Libraries to be: a place where children can come to often, to learn, try new things, and have fun along the way 📚🧑🏽‍🎨💃🏽🏃🏽‍♀️🕺🏽

The holidays may be over, but we’re definitely taking some great memories with us 💙💙💙

Meet Jeanie, an intern from American Christian Academy who spent some of her holiday time interning with us!

For Jeanie, her time at MAYEIN was an opportunity to step into a different work environment, take on new experiences, and see firsthand how a nonprofit works to support teenagers and young people.

In this video, Jeanie shares some of the moments that stood out to her, what she learned during her time with us, and how the experience shaped the way she sees work, people, and her own abilities.

Special thanks to , and Jeanie, for spending such valuable time with us. 💙
