RE-APPOINTMENT AND SELECTION OF AD’IGEDE IN THE
SOUTHWEST
In view of the recent propaganda and fake rumour going on in the social media
castigating the personality of Ad’igede 1 of Oyo State and Southwest traditional
council by some greedy persons who wants their friends and cronics to be
Ad’igede of their respective states without the support of the majority.
Firstly, the process that leads to the selection and appointment of Ad’igede 1. of
Oyo State Adirahu Onda Monday Eyi is transparent free and fair devoid of any
form of bias or injustice, it was rectified and coronated by the Olubadan of Ibadan
Land, (HIM) (Late Oba. Samuel Adetunji Akanmu) five years ago and he
received a royal blessing from (HIM) Alaafin of Oyo, Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi
before his demise. May their souls rest in peace. This is one of the great
achievements of Igede people in the southwest.
Sercondly, the appointment and selection of Ad’igede 1. of Ogun State, HIS
Royal Highness Samuel Ogigbo Onwuna follows a due process of unbiased
screening by the Igede Southwest Chietaincy committee, they did their
assignment based on the invitation by executive of Omi’ny’Igede and Igede
stakeholders in Ogun State, when they could not resolve differences between
themselves, the Southwest Chieftaincy Committee did their screening diligently
and Chief Onwuna Emerge based on merit with the highest mark while Chief Ona
was declared Ad’oju (2nd class) in the context between two parties, one person
must emerge as a winner.
This committee’s report was rectified and vindicated by the Ogun State House of
Assembly. Furthermore, when the protest got to the palace of Alaake of Egbaland
the Alaake also gave credence to the Ogun State House of Assembly resolution
that nobody should parade himself as Ad’igede 1. of Ogun State as stated by Ogun
State House of Assembly resolution except Chief Onwuna and any agrived
persons should go to court, th
