MTN Nigeria has introduced a flexible airtime loan repayment system. If you have an outstanding XtraTime loan, your next recharge will no longer be completely swallowed by debt. Instead, you get to keep 75% of your recharge for immediate calls and data, while only 25% goes toward clearing your balance.
Say Goodbye to the "Swallowed Recharge" Anxiety🥰
If you use a prepaid line in Nigeria, you likely know the feeling: you borrow airtime in an emergency, and days later, you finally recharge just to make an urgent call. But before you can even dial the number, your network provider instantly deducts the entire amount to clear your debt, leaving you stranded on a zero balance.
Well, MTN Nigeria is finally changing the narrative🎉
In a recent update sent out to subscribers, the telecom giant announced a brand-new, customer-friendly approach to airtime loan repayments. You can now recharge your line and actually enjoy your airtime, even if you still owe the network.
For Example:
According to the official message from MTN, if you have an active loan and you buy an N100 recharge card today, MTN will leave N75 in your account for you to use immediately. The remaining N25 will be deducted to pay down your loan. This split continues with subsequent recharges until your debt is fully cleared.
This is a massive relief for everyday Nigerians. In the past, the "all-or-nothing" recovery method meant users were essentially penalized for trying to pay back what they owed if they couldn't afford to clear the entire debt at once.
