Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective proudly participated in the 2026 Volunteer Supporters Network (VSN) Annual Meeting, a global gathering of volunteer supporters, community leaders, and movement organizers from across the Wikimedia movement.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to engage in conversations around the current state of volunteer support, share experiences, discuss emerging challenges, and explore strategies for strengthening communities that contribute to free and open knowledge.

As a community dedicated to documenting, preserving, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Niger Delta through photography, storytelling, and Wikimedia projects, our participation aligns with the Wikimedia movement's mission of ensuring that knowledge remains freely accessible to everyone.

The event also enabled us to connect with fellow community organizers worldwide, expand our support network, learn from diverse experiences, and explore collaborative opportunities that will help strengthen our efforts in bridging knowledge gaps and addressing the underrepresentation of the Niger Delta region on Wikimedia platforms.

We remain committed to empowering volunteers, preserving cultural heritage, and advancing open knowledge for present and future generations.

Today, members of the Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective paid a condolence visit to the family of our dearly departed community member, Victory Victor, who tragically lost her life in a ghastly motor accident while traveling from Port Harcourt to Bori on 14th February 2026 and she was laid to mother earth 14th March, 2026

Victory was more than a community member. She was a passionate researcher, a gifted writer, and a brilliant young woman whose dedication, intellect, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. Her sudden passing remains a painful loss, not only to her family but also to the entire Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective community.

As part of the visit, our team met with her parents at Bori Market, where they make their living selling food items. It was a deeply emotional moment as we shared memories of Victory, reflected on her contributions, and expressed our heartfelt condolences. Amidst the pain of their loss, her parents spoke proudly of the life she lived, the values she upheld, and her commitment to documenting stories and preserving knowledge for future generations.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the Wiki Loves Africa community and WikiAfrica for their support, compassion, and solidarity during this difficult time. Your kindness and willingness to stand with us have brought comfort not only to Victory's family but also to the entire Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective community.

One of the most touching outcomes of the visit was the decision of Victory's younger brother, a photographer, to join the Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective. Inspired by the legacy of his late sister, he has chosen to continue the path of storytelling and documentation that she was so passionate about.

While no one can replace Victory, his decision symbolizes a determination to carry forward the vision she believed in. Through photography and visual storytelling, he hopes to contribute to addressing the underrepresentation of the Niger Delta region, documenting its people, culture, traditions, and untold stories for the world to see and appreciate.

Though Victory's life was cut short, her impact continues to resonate. Her passion has inspired another storyteller within her own family to continue the work she started. Her legacy lives on through the stories she helped preserve and through those she has inspired to continue telling them.

The family deeply appreciates the support shown to them, and the Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective remains grateful to everyone who has stood with us during this period of mourning.

May the soul of our beloved sister, colleague, and friend find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord Almighty. May God grant her family, friends, and all who mourn her the strength and comfort to bear this painful loss.

Rest in peace, Victory Victor. Your light may have gone out too soon, but the stories you championed and the lives you touched will continue to shine for generations to come. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพโœจ

Culture shapes how we see the world and how we connect with one another.

In a world facing increasing divisions, intercultural dialogue helps build bridges where differences could have become barriers. Diversity strengthens societies, inspires creativity, and reminds us that true development can only thrive when every culture, community, and voice is valued and represented.

On the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we celebrate the richness of our identities, traditions, languages, and ways of life. Cultural diversity remains a powerful force for dialogue, mutual understanding, peace, and sustainable development.

Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective continues to support this vision by creating spaces where cultural heritage, storytelling, documentation, and community engagement can flourish. Through photography, oral history, Wikimedia projects, and cultural documentation, the collective works to preserve heritage, promote intercultural understanding, and connect communities across the Niger Delta and beyond.
