The Alarming Trend: A Call to Action for Igala Youth
The Igala community is witnessing a disturbing shift among some of its youth, who are increasingly falling prey to the dangers of drug abuse and cultism. What was once unimaginable is now a growing concern: young lives being derailed by addiction, violence, and a loss of cultural values. The Igala Youth Forum (IYF) cannot ignore this crisis. It’s time to sound the alarm and take collective responsibility to steer our youth back to a path of hope, purpose, and safety.
To combat this, the Igala Youth Forum, in collaboration with the ICDA National Youth Coordinator, must launch a robust sensitization campaign. Workshops, community dialogues, town halls, and social media blitzes should educate youth on the irreversible damage of drugs (like opioids, m**h, or cannabis) and the deadly grip of cultism. We must highlight alternatives. sports, entrepreneurship, arts, and mentorship programs. Religious leaders, elders, and influencers must unite to reinforce that Igala values resilience, not recklessness. Let’s replace addiction with ambition.
The solution starts with us. Parents, schools, and local authorities must work hand in hand with the IYF to provide support systems. rehabilitation centers, counseling, and skill acquisition programs. Let’s identify at risk youth before it’s too late. Together, we can break this cycle. The Igala nation thrives when its youth thrive not in shadows, but in light. Let’s act now. The future isn’t distant. it’s knocking.
