PRESS STATEMENT

CONSTITUTION OF THE FAZAMSS NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON FEMALE STUDENTS DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT

In line with the commitment of the FAZAMSS National Leadership to promote gender inclusion, strengthen female participation in leadership, and advance the development and empowerment of female students across tertiary institutions in Zamfara State, the National President has approved the constitution of the FAZAMSS National Committee on Female Students Development and Empowerment.

The Committee is charged with developing a comprehensive framework for the implementation of the Association’s Female Students Development and Empowerment Programme. It shall coordinate stakeholder engagements, recommend sustainable policies and initiatives, mobilize participation, and oversee the planning and ex*****on of programmes that promote leadership, entrepreneurship, education, advocacy, and the overall welfare of female students.

ON THE SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THE 2ND FAZAMSS NATIONAL INTER-TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS DEBATE COMPETITION 2026

Alhamdulillah

All praise and gratitude are due to Almighty Allah (SWT), whose infinite mercy, guidance, and blessings made the successful organization and conclusion of the 2nd FAZAMSS National Inter-Tertiary Institutions Debate Competition 2026 possible. To Him alone belongs all glory and all praise.

Today marks the successful conclusion of another landmark event in the history of the Federated Association of Zamfara State Students (FAZAMSS), Incorporated as the National Union of Zamfara State Students (NUZAMSS). This competition has once again demonstrated the power of dialogue, knowledge, and critical thinking as indispensable tools for nation-building and sustainable development.

Before anything else, I consider it a duty to acknowledge and appreciate my predecessor and leader, Comrade Nasir Gamagiwa, under whose administration this noble initiative was conceived. The FAZAMSS National Inter-Tertiary Institutions Debate Competition stands as one of his enduring legacies, and I am privileged to have sustained and advanced this vision. His foresight, commitment, and dedication to promoting intellectual excellence among Zamfara State students deserve our sincere appreciation.

On behalf of the National Executive Council and the entire membership of FAZAMSS, Incorporated as NUZAMSS, I extend my warmest congratulations to all participating institutions, particularly the winners of this year’s competition Federal University Dutsinma. Every institution that participated displayed exceptional courage, discipline, eloquence, and intellectual excellence worthy of recognition.

I wish to express my profound appreciation to Dr. Yakubu Sanusi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (Chairman Panel of Judges), and Hajiya Maryam Shantali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, for their invaluable support, guidance, and encouragement towards the successful hosting of this competition. Their commitment to educational development and youth empowerment is sincerely appreciated.

I equally extend my sincere gratitude to our Leader, Honourable Anas Hamisu Lawal, for his invaluable support, confidence, and continuous encouragement throughout the planning and ex*****on of this programme.

I also wish to express my profound gratitude to our respected leaders and mentors whose guidance, encouragement, and wise counsel continue to shape our leadership journey and strengthen the vision of FAZAMSS, Incorporated as NUZAMSS. In particular, I acknowledge Leader Comrade Umar Mahmud, Leader Luqman Majidadi Leader Mustapha Hassan Musa, Leader Honourable Ana’s Hamisu Lawal, Leader Amb Mubarak M Ya'u, Leader Barrister Sirajo Garba Gusau, Leader Ishaka Idris, leader Mubarak Garba, leaderDaha Alkaleey, leader Nura Garba, leader Shafiu Muhammad Dade, Leader Abubakar Galadeema Hon. SSA on students matters Zamfara State, among many other distinguished personalities whose mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support continue to inspire us to serve with integrity, responsibility, and dedication. We remain grateful for your confidence in the younger generation of leaders.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the distinguished Panel of Judges, under the able leadership of the Chairman, for their professionalism, impartiality, and dedication in ensuring a transparent, credible, and intellectually rewarding competition.

I sincerely commend the Organizing Committee, whose tireless efforts, sacrifice, teamwork, and commitment transformed this vision into reality.

I wish to specially appreciate the Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasir Anka Garba, for graciously granting us the use of the UBE Hall for the preliminary stage of the competition.

My appreciation also goes to the Zamfara State Cabinet Affairs Office Specially the Secretary to the state Government Malan Abubakar Nakwada for providing the Garba Nadama Conference Hall for the Grand Finale and Closing Ceremony.

I equally acknowledge the invaluable services of the various security agencies, members of the media, protocol officers, volunteers, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of this competition.

To all our distinguished guests, government officials, heads of institutions, development partners, traditional rulers, alumni, and everyone who honoured our invitation with their presence, I express my deepest appreciation. Your presence greatly enriched this occasion and reaffirmed our shared commitment to educational advancement.

As we conclude this year’s competition, I reaffirm the unwavering commitment of FAZAMSS, Incorporated as the National Union of Zamfara State Students (NUZAMSS), to promoting academic excellence, leadership development, peaceful coexistence, and meaningful student engagement across Zamfara State and beyond.

Finally, I pray that Almighty Allah rewards every individual and organization that contributed to the success of this programme and continues to bless our dear Zamfara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

PRESS STATEMENT

FAZAMSS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES THE PRELIMINARY SESSION OF THE 2ND NATIONAL INTER-TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS DEBATE COMPETITION

The Federated Association of Zamfara State Students (FAZAMSS) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Preliminary Session of the 2nd FAZAMSS National Inter-Tertiary Institutions Debate Competition, held on Friday, 24th July, 2026, at the UBE Hall, Near Tsohuwar Kara, Gusau.

The preliminary session brought together participating tertiary institutions in an atmosphere of healthy intellectual engagement, where students demonstrated exceptional eloquence, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking while debating contemporary issues of public policy and National Development.

At the end of the preliminary round, Zamfara College of Arts, Science and Technology (ZACAST), Gusau emerged victorious over Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, while Federal University Dutsin-Ma secured victory against Federal University Gusau. College of Education, Maru also progressed to the next stage after receiving a walkover due to the absence of an opposing institution.

FAZAMSS commends all participating institutions for their commitment, discipline, and outstanding display of intellectual excellence throughout the competition. The Association equally expresses its profound appreciation to the distinguished Panel of Judges for their professionalism, impartiality, and dedication in ensuring a fair and credible adjudication process.

Special appreciation is also extended to members of the Organizing Committee, volunteers, partners, and all stakeholders whose unwavering support contributed immensely to the successful conduct of the preliminary session.

The Association remains committed to promoting academic excellence, constructive dialogue, and healthy intellectual competition among students across all institutions of learning.

The Grand Finale and Closing Ceremony of the competition will take place on Sunday, 26th July, 2026, where the qualified institutions will compete for the championship title.

FAZAMSS warmly invites members of the academic community, government officials, development partners, students, the media, and the general public to witness the exciting conclusion of this prestigious national competition.
