When I turned 50, I instituted a scholarship in my Dad's name
(The Mamman Marshal Scholarship) for girls in higher education from indigent families. The scholarship was initially instituted for only girls studying a media degree although it has since expanded to include other disciplines and also boys.

My Dad was passionate about education especially for girls and with support from my Mum ensured that we all had an opportunity to be educated.

It was life changing for me. From my Catholic secondary school, St Louis, to my University, Bayero, to post graduate school at Goldsmiths' , all, shaped who I am and without a doubt without that education, my story today would be very different.
So I am very passionate when I see others helping those who would otherwise struggle to get an education.

So when I found myself in Abuja recently, I took the opportunity to visit my brother and friend, Dr Akin Sawyer to commend him for the stellar work he is doing with NigeriaEducationLoanFund, NELFUND

I know what a difference an education can make first hand ,and so it was important for me to visit and also gain insight into the progress they have made in helping those who need support to start or complete their education.

I also met with one of the Directors Oseyemi Oluwatuyi who explained how easy the process is for accessing the funds.

•It happens gradually.

•If everyone around you:

•Avoids planning

•Lives only for today

•Hates learning

•Rejects discipline

•That becomes “normal.

•The danger is not immediate failure.

•The danger is gradual limitation.

•You must constantly ask yourself:

•Am I thinking this way because it’s right or because it’s common around me?

•Awareness protects you.

Bankin Masana’antu na Najeriya (BoI) ya samu amincewar Hukumar Babban Bankin Najeriya (CBN) domin fara gudanar da bada Rance maras Ruwa (Non-Interest Banking), lamarin da ke nuna babban ci gaba a tsarin samar da kuɗaɗen tallafi na bankin.

Shugaban Bankin, Dakta Olasupo Olusi, ne ya bayyana hakan a cikin wata sanarwa da ya fitar a ranar Lahadi.

Wannan amincewa ana sa ran za ta ƙara ƙarfafa rawar da BoI ke takawa wajen bunƙasa ci gaban masana’antu mai ɗorewa, tare da faɗaɗa damar samun jari ga ƙananan da matsakaitan ’yan kasuwa, da sauran sassan kasuwanci masu tasiri waɗanda ba su da sauƙin samun rance a baya.

Da wannan izini, BoI zai fara bayar da Rance Maras Ruwa, wanda ya dogara da tsarin kuɗi na gaskiya da haɗin kai (risk-sharing), tare da hana karɓar riba (interest).

Tsarin zai mayar da hankali kan ba da tallafin kuɗi bisa kadarori (asset-backed financing) domin tallafa wa ci gaban kasuwanci da masana’antu a faɗin ƙasar nan.
