The World Bank has approved a 500 million dollar credit facility for Nigeria to support a new agricultural initiative focused on smallholder farmers, food security, and value chain development.

The funding, provided through the International Development Association, will finance the Nigeria Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains for Growth Project, known as AGROW. The programme is designed to raise farm productivity, improve access to markets, and generate employment opportunities across the country.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the project seeks to strengthen agricultural systems by helping farmers move beyond subsistence practices while improving food availability and nutrition nationwide. The approval for the loan was dated March 30, 2026.

Youth Farmers North East Cooperative Apex Ltd Signs Strategic MoU with Federal College of Horticulture Dadin Kowa to Boost Agricultural Innovation

Gombe State, Nigeria

The Youth Farmers North East Cooperative Apex Limited has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal College of Horticulture Dadin Kowa aimed at strengthening agricultural development, training, and youth empowerment across North-East Nigeria.

The partnership will focus on capacity building for youth and women farmers, research collaboration, and the promotion of modern farming practices to improve agricultural productivity, value chain development, and food security in the region.

Speaking during the engagement, the leadership of the cooperative emphasized that the collaboration will open opportunities for technical training, innovation in horticulture, and knowledge transfer that will equip young farmers with practical skills required for modern agriculture.
