Commendation to the Executive Chairman, Gombe State Internal Revenue Service Aisha Adamu FCTI, FCNA.

We celebrate a commendable milestone as our Executive Chairman, Gombe State Internal Revenue Service - GIRS demonstrated exemplary leadership by sponsoring four staff members to undertake the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Professional Examination program.

The beneficiaries attended the Final Inspector of Taxes Course (FITC) in Abuja, where they successfully passed two professional examinations over two semesters. Following this achievement, they have been inducted in Abuja and are now Associate Members, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACIT).

This investment in human capital development is a great achievement for the _Gombe State Internal Revenue Service and also for the CITN Gombe & District Society. It reflects the EC’s commitment to building capacity, professionalism, and a culture of excellence in tax administration across Gombe State.

We congratulate the four new Associate Members (ACIT) on this remarkable feat and deeply commend the Executive Chairman for prioritizing staff development and promoting the CITN mandate. This gesture will undoubtedly inspire others and strengthen the quality of tax practice in the State.

CITN Gombe & District Society Exco Visit to NYSC Orientation Camp, Amada

Today, the Executives of the CITN Gombe & District Society were privileged to visit the NYSC Orientation Camp, Amada, for a sensitization outreach to corps members.

The *Chairman, Mr Kanu Ozioma FCTI, CITN Gombe and District Society , delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the National President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)*, encouraging corps members to embrace professionalism and taxation as a career path.

The Vice Chairman 1 Mr. Danjuma Abdullahi Manga delivered a lecture on the *modalities of becoming a member of the Institute*, outlining the pathways through the Professional Tax Examination and other approved routes.

During the session, we also emphasized the importance of having sound knowledge of the New Tax Act, which came into effect on *1st January 2026*. To support this, the District Society distributed hard copies of the New Tax Act to corps members.

Additionally, two corps members were appointed to coordinate and compile the list of interested individuals who wish to join CITN through the Professional Tax Examination route.

REPORT OF THE 3RD CONGRESS MEETING / HANDOVER & INAUGURATION OF NEW EXCOS FOR ( CITN) GOMBE HELD ON FRIDAY, 24TH APRIL 2026 AT ABMAR HALL, GOMBE

1.0 INTRODUCTION & CONGRESS NOTICE

Following the expiration of the two-year tenure of the District Branch Chairperson, the CITN Gombe & District Society convened its 3rd Congress Meeting on Friday, 24th April 2026 at 4:00 PM prompt at ABMAR HALL, Opp. FTH Gombe .

In line with the Society’s Constitution, Executive Committee positions were adjusted to fill vacancies.
The following positions were declared vacant and filled by consensus/election:

Vacant Positions:
1. Assistant Secretary
2. Financial Secretary
3. Treasurer
4. Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.)
5. Legal Adviser

2.0 NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2026-2028

Based on hierarchy and consensus, the following members emerged as the new EXCO:

3.0 SUMMARY OF HANDOVER ADDRESS BY OUTGOING CHAIRPERSON
Madam Sa’adatu I. Silong, ACTI

The Outgoing Chairperson presented her official handover address, highlighting key achievements of her two-year tenure as pioneer female Chairperson:

Key Milestones:
1. Strategic Youth Engagement:Consistent NYSC Advocacy at Amada Orientation Camp for Batch A, B, C and its Streams to promote taxation as a career, resulting in increased interest from corps members.
2. Institutional Diplomacy: High-level visits to GIRS, Ministry of Budget & Economic Planning, Office of the Accountant-General, Auditor-General, and FIRS State Office to deepen inter-agency collaboration.
3. Visibility & Growth: Strengthened the Society’s relevance, visibility, and professional footprint across Gombe State.

Recommendations to Incoming EXCO:

1. Institutionalize annual stakeholder engagement calendar.
2. Formalize partnerships through MOUs for training and consultancy.
3. Intensify membership drives among public servants and corps members.
4. Adopt digital follow-up mechanisms for prospective members.
5. Sustain the forthcoming Inter-Secondary School Tax Competition in collaboration with CITN National HQ.

She concluded by expressing gratitude to her EXCO, elders, and members, and wished the new leadership success.

4.0 SUMMARY OF REMARKS BY NEW CHAIRMAN

The new Chairman, Mr. Kanu Ozioma, FCTI, appreciated the immediate past Chairperson, Madam Sa’adatu I. Silong, and the entire outgoing EXCO for their dedication and the progress recorded by the District.

He called for unity, teamwork, and prayers for the continued success and growth of CITN Gombe & District Society under the new administration.

5.0 CONCLUSION

The 3rd Congress was successfully held with impressive attendance. The transition was peaceful, constitutional, and well-received by members. The new EXCO has assumed office with a mandate to consolidate on past gains and advance the Society’s professional relevance in Gombe State.

CITN GOMBE AND DISTRICT SOCIETY CELEBRATES DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS*

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Gombe and District Society extends its warmest congratulations to its esteemed members on their remarkable achievement.

We are pleased to announce that Hajiya Aisha Adamu FCTI, Chairman, Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, Malam Kabiru Shuaibu Muhammad FCTI Executive Director Other Revenue, and Alhaji Nasiru Garba FCTI, Executive Director Tax Operation, have been elevated to the prestigious rank of Fellows of the CITN.

Today Wednesday, 06 August 2025, the Excos of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria *(CITN)* Gombe and District Society, led by Chairperson *Madam Sa'adatu I. Silong (ACTI),* visited the *Amada NYSC* Orientation Camp. The visit aimed to sensitize Corp Members about the potential of becoming tax professionals.

*Madam Silong* conveyed the message of the newly elected *17th CITN President/ Chairman of Council,Mr. Innocent C. Ohagwa (FCNA),* emphasizing taxation's crucial role in Nigeria's revenue growth. The President highlighted the importance of tax experts and professionals in improving the country's revenue, particularly in the face of declining crude oil revenue, rising debt burdens, fluctuating Naira value, and increasing government expenditure.

*Benefits of CITN Membership*

P.R.O, Dr Abubakar Yakubu Ahmad who Represented the Vice Chairman 1 Mr. Danjuma Abdullahi Manga (ACTI), addressed the Corp Members, urging them to join CITN to become professionals. He outlined the benefits of CITN membership, including:

- High-grade entry level during first appointment as a civil servant

Dr Abubakar lso highlighted the convenience of CITN's online Computer-Based Test (CBT) exams, which can be taken at comport of your zone, and highlited on the Tax Reforms Bill which was recently singed by the President.

The visitation was successfully promoted taxation as a career option among young professionals. We highlighted the benefits of CITN membership and the importance of taxation in Nigeria's revenue growth.

Notably, we identified and selected two corps members, Mr. Schedule Dickson and Mariam Aderibigbe Adedoyin as our representatives and ambassadors to ambassador for our professionas.this initiative aims to attract tallented individual in the field of taxation.

*CITN Gombe and District Society Visits Amada NYSC Orientation Camp*

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria *(CITN)* Gombe and District Society, led by Chairperson *Madam Sa'adatu I. Silong (ACTI),* visited the Amada Camp during the NYSC orientation program held on *Wednesday, April 30, 2025* . The visit was part of the CITN's efforts to sensitize Corp Members about the potential of becoming tax professionals.

In her address, Madam *Silong* conveyed the message of the *16th CITN President, Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi (FCNA, MNI),* emphasizing taxation's crucial role in Nigeria's revenue growth. The President described the tax experts and professionals as having a great burden in improving the country's revenue, which has become a measure of hope for the nation due to declining revenue from crude oil, rising debt burdens, fluctuating value of Naira, and increasing government expenditure.

The President also thanked the NYSC Director General, *Brigadier General OO Nafi'u ,* for providing the opportunity for the CITN to expand career options and opportunities for Corp Members.
