🌍 WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY 2026🌍
Today, 7th June, Kara Unity Forum joins the global community in commemorating **World Food Safety Day**, a day dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action toward ensuring safe food for everyone.
Access to safe and nutritious food is essential for sustaining life, promoting good health, and advancing sustainable development. Yet, unsafe food contaminated by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or harmful chemicals causes an estimated 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses and over 420,000 deaths globally each year, with children under five bearing a significant share of this burden.
Food safety is not only a public health issue—it is fundamental to food security, economic growth, agriculture, tourism, and overall societal well-being. From production and processing to storage, transportation, preparation, and consumption, every stakeholder has a role to play in ensuring that food remains safe from farm to table.
As we mark this important day under the theme **"Food Safety: Everyone's Business,"** Kara Unity Forum calls on governments, regulatory agencies, food producers, vendors, consumers, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen efforts toward promoting food safety standards, good hygiene practices, and consumer awareness.
Together, we can prevent foodborne diseases, protect vulnerable populations, and build healthier communities.
**Safe food today means a healthier tomorrow.**
