Today, we celebrate every child and reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of every child. Every child matters. Every right counts.

Through our legal clinics in IDP camps, we continue to provide legal awareness, support services, and access to justice for displaced families and vulnerable children. These interventions have strengthened child protection efforts and empowered communities to speak against abuse, exploitation, and rights violations against children.

Yet, hundreds of children in IDP camps still lack access to quality education, healthcare, protection, and the dignified childhood they deserve. We call on all stakeholders to take urgent action to protect every child and secure Nigeria’s future.

Expanding Collaboration to Strengthen SRHR in Nigeria

We received the Youth Network for Community & Sustainable Development (YNCSD) on an advocacy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration to advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Nigeria, with a focus on women, girls, and vulnerable populations. The engagement explored practical partnership opportunities aimed at improving community-level impact.

Discussions centered on scaling community-based interventions, strengthening rights awareness, and improving access to accurate SRHR information and services. We highlighted the need to address barriers such as stigma, misinformation, and weak referral systems that continue to limit access to care and protection.

YNCSD also commended Lawyers Alert for the work done in promoting human rights and access to justice, while both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to a collaborative, impact-driven approach to advancing SRHR outcomes across Nigeria.

In Benue State, the silence endured by *Cathraine* and thousands of other displaced persons for over seven years is finally being broken through our legal clinic at the Internally Displaced Persons camp. She now understands her rights, knows where to seek help, and has found the courage to speak out.

“Before the legal clinic, I suffered in silence. Today, I know my rights, I have found my voice, and I finally have hope for justice.”

Her story reflects the growing impact of access to justice and legal empowerment for vulnerable communities affected by displacement, insecurity, and human rights violations.
