This week, Adda Girl Education Foundation participated in the close-out meeting of the “Girls Lead Advocacy” Project (GLAP), organized by Development Exchange Centre with support from Bread for the World Germany, held on 12th–13th May 2026 at Gombe International Hotel.
Represented by Program Coordinator Abubakar Abdullahi Hussain, ADDA presented the impact of its 6-month project implemented in Malam Jamo and Gamadadi communities of Akko LGA, Gombe State.
Through the project, girls were empowered with advocacy and public speaking skills to speak against BAREMA (farm labour), while mothers were supported through a Village Savings and Loan Scheme (VSLA) to strengthen household livelihoods. Safe spaces were also created for girls to learn, share experiences, and support one another.
One of the project’s major achievements was securing commitments from the State Ministry of Justice, community stakeholders, and parents to strengthen the protection of girls from abuse and exploitation and support their education instead of farm labour.
We are proud that our girl-led approach to advocacy and community engagement was highly commended by participants during the event.
At Adda Girl Education Foundation, we remain committed to empowering girls to lead, speak up, and create change in their communities.
