Guess where it’s happening?

We often comfort ourselves by thinking domestic and s*xual violence happens “somewhere else” or to “other people.” But the reality in Lagos is staggering.

With an average of 400 cases a month, this is happening right in the spaces we consider safest, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, and our places of worship.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) is never a private family matter. It concerns us all. 🚨 Report abuse. Save a life.

Reproductive healthcare in Nigeria is often treated like a taboo conversation, but silence has never protected people from harm.

Behind every statistic are real lives affected by stigma, misinformation, restrictive systems, unsafe practices, and limited access to care.

These conversations are so important, they affect how people access healthcare, make decisions about their bodies, and survive medical emergencies.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing reproductive healthcare in Nigeria today?

Inclusion isn’t complete if it only works in parts.

For many people in Nigeria, identity and access don’t always meet, leaving gaps where they can’t show up fully as themselves.

True inclusion means building spaces that are both accessible and affirming. No one should have to choose which part of themselves to leave behind.

We all have a role in closing that gap.

Happy Workers’ Day to the survivors, the advocates, the s*x workers, and the q***r community.

Labor rights belong to everyone, especially those at the margins. Today and every day, we continue the work of building a world where everyone is safe, protected, and free to choose their own path.

Keep pushing. We see you and Happy Workers’ day once again!

April 25 is more than a date, it’s a global call to protect lives and push back against a disease that should no longer claim them.

Malaria remains a serious threat, but it’s not unstoppable. With the right awareness, preventive measures, and timely treatment, we can drastically reduce its impact. This is about more than statistics, it’s about families, communities, and futures that deserve to thrive without fear.

Every action counts: sleep under treated nets, eliminate stagnant water, support health initiatives, and speak up. When we choose to act, we move closer to a world where malaria is no longer a burden but a memory.

Together, we can turn awareness into action, and action into lasting change.

Let’s be honest.

Abortions don’t happen in a vacuum.

They happen because:
Contraception isn’t accessible or fails, s*x education is poor or nonexistent, s*xual violence happens, people are not financially or emotionally ready, and pregnancies become medically risky.

Now remove safe, regulated services from that reality…

What you get is not fewer abortions.
You get unsafe ones.

People will always find a way, the difference is whether they survive it.

Access to abortion services is not about morality debates.
It’s about safety, healthcare, and staying alive.

That’s the part we don’t talk about enough.

We cannot talk about global maternal health without talking about unsafe abortion.

Unsafe abortion is a catastrophic public health crisis. According to the WHO and the Guttmacher Institute, up to 13.2% of all maternal deaths worldwide are caused by unsafe abortions. Beyond the tragic loss of life, roughly 7 million people are hospitalized every year for severe, preventable injuries like sepsis and hemorrhage.

This is an epidemic of inequity. 97% of these unsafe procedures happen in developing nations, disproportionately impacting the poorest and most marginalized individuals who are blocked from safe healthcare.

The medical consensus is clear: unsafe abortions are 100% preventable. Expanding access to safe abortion, contraception, and post-abortion care is not just a rights issue, it is a critical public health intervention.

Swipe to learn the facts.

We often hear about the dangers of unsafe abortions, which account for a staggering 45% of all abortions worldwide (WHO). But we rarely talk about why people are forced to take these risks.

The data from the WHO and the Guttmacher Institute is clear: people don’t seek out unsafe abortions by choice. They are pushed into them by restrictive laws, societal stigma, lack of local healthcare, and unaffordable costs. Banning abortion does not lower abortion rates, it only increases maternal mortality and injuries.

It’s time to treat safe abortion as what it is: essential, life-saving healthcare.

Swipe to understand the 4 major barriers forcing millions into unsafe circumstances every year.

Nigerian women have always resisted injustice.
From the thousands of women who led the Aba Women’s War in 1929 to activists, politicians, and writers shaping global feminist conversations today, women in Nigeria have played powerful roles in challenging inequality.Their activism transformed politics, education, health systems, and cultural narratives.
