Domitila Foundation Takes Cervical Cancer Awareness & Medical Outreach to Nru Community

In its continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of rural communities, the Domitila Foundation successfully carried out a cervical cancer awareness program and medical outreach in Nru community.

The outreach was aimed at educating women and the general public on the dangers of cervical cancer, the importance of early detection, and preventive measures. Health professionals provided detailed sensitization on symptoms, risk factors, and the need for regular screening.

As part of the program, free medical services were also offered, including consultations, basic health checks, and screenings. Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in a community where access to quality healthcare services is limited.

Speaking during the outreach, representatives of the foundation emphasized their dedication to saving lives through awareness, prevention, and accessible healthcare services. They encouraged women to prioritize their health and take advantage of screening opportunities.

The Domitila Foundation remains committed to reaching more underserved communities with life-saving interventions and health education programs.

On the 14th, we took our Cervical Cancer Awareness and Free Medical Outreach Program to Ede-Ukwu community in Nsukka.

It was a day dedicated to saving lives, creating awareness, and providing free medical services to members of the community. Many residents came out to benefit from the outreach, where our medical team carried out free health checks including blood pressure, sugar level tests, malaria and typhoid screening, and consultations on various health concerns such as eye problems, tooth issues, waist pain, leg pain, and general wellbeing.

In addition to the medical checks and consultations, beneficiaries were also given free drugs and medications to support their treatment and improve their health.

We also educated women on cervical cancer awareness, emphasizing the importance of early detection, regular screening, and preventive care. Cervical cancer is largely preventable when detected early, and awareness remains a powerful tool in protecting our mothers, sisters, and daughters.

At Domitila foundation our mission is to empower women and support communities through impactful health and social programs.

We sincerely appreciate the people of Ede-Ukwu for their warm reception and participation. Together, we will continue to promote healthier and stronger communities.

On the 14th of February, in commemoration of the season of love and care, the Domitila Foundation took its Medical Outreach Program to Ede-nta Community.

The outreach was centered on Cervical Cancer Awareness, with the aim of educating women on the dangers of the disease and the importance of early medical attention.

During the program, health professionals engaged the women in an intensive health talk where they were enlightened on:

• What cervical cancer is
• Causes and risk factors
• Warning signs and symptoms
• Preventive lifestyle practices
• The importance of routine hospital check-ups

The session created an avenue for open discussion, allowing women to ask questions, share experiences, and receive professional medical guidance.

In addition to the awareness campaign, the foundation also provided free medical outreach services, which included:

• Free medical consultations
• Blood pressure checks
• General health examinations
• Distribution of free drugs and medications
• Health counseling and referrals where necessary

The outreach recorded a commendable turnout, with beneficiaries expressing deep appreciation for the initiative. Many described the program as enlightening and impactful, especially as it brought vital health information and support directly to the community.

Eha Ulo — Day 2 Update 💙

On Saturday, we continued Day Two of our Cervical Cancer Awareness and Medical Outreach Program as we took the initiative to Aha Ulo Community in Nsukka Local Government Area.

It was another impactful engagement as we met with the women of the community to educate them on cervical cancer ,its causes, symptoms, prevention, and the importance of early detection. Creating awareness remains one of the strongest tools in the fight against cervical cancer, and we are committed to ensuring that no woman is left uninformed.

Beyond the sensitization session, we also provided free medical outreach services, including consultations, basic health checks, and medical guidance to support their overall well-being.

The warmth, smiles, and willingness to learn from the women reminded us why this work is so important. When women are informed and healthy, families and communities grow stronger.

This outreach is more than a program it is a movement toward healthier women and safer communities.

Domitila Foundation for Women Empowerment remains committed to advocacy, prevention, and accessible healthcare at the grassroots.

Together, we will keep spreading awareness, saving lives, and empowering.

🌍 WORLD HIV DAY — Let’s Talk About It

Today, the world unites to raise awareness about HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) — a virus that attacks the body’s immune system and reduces its ability to fight infections if left untreated.

HIV is transmitted only through specific body fluids, such as:
• Blood
• Semen
• Vaginal fluids
• Breast milk

It can spread through:
• Unprotected sexual contact
• Sharing sharp objects like needles or blades
• Infected blood transfusion
• From mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding without medical care

❗ But remember:
HIV cannot be transmitted by:
• Hugging or shaking hands
• Sharing food or water
• Mosquito bites
• Sitting or staying close to someone living with HIV

There is no cure yet, but there is effective treatment.

With medical support like World AIDS Day 2025 advocacy, and consistent care through ART (Antiretroviral Therapy), people living with HIV can:
✅ Live long, healthy lives
✅ Protect their immune system
✅ Reduce the risk of transmission

The real enemy is not HIV. It’s Stigma.

Fear, misinformation, discrimination, and rejection hurt people far more than the virus itself.

Our Message on This Day

At 📍Our Foundation, we stand for:
• Awareness over fear
• Testing over assumptions
• Treatment over shame
• Empathy over stigma

Our Call to Action

❤️ Support, don’t discriminate
📣 Spread facts, not myths
🤝 Show kindness, not fear

Skill Acquisition Support Program – Empowering Lives, One Skill at a Time

A few weeks ago, we called on the public to recommend individuals with the passion and willingness to learn a skill that can transform their lives. Among the responses we received, Ezeja Rosemary Chidera, from Umuida Inyere in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, stood out as someone with genuine interest and potential. She was recommended by Friday Ifeanyichukwu Odoh .

We are pleased to share that Rosemary has now been officially enrolled in the skill training of her choice ( fashionabd design) . She selected a training center close to her residence, which aligns with our goal of making the learning process accessible and stress-free for our beneficiaries.

But our vision doesn’t end at enrollment. This program was designed not only to help people acquire skills but also to ensure they are empowered to put those skills to use in ways that can sustain and uplift them. That’s why we’ve made a commitment: in six months, if Rosemary shows good progress and dedication, we will support her further with essential equipment to help ease her work and give her a solid foundation to thrive.

We're not just giving skills, we're building futures.

Here are some pictures from the day we enrolled her. Stay tuned for more inspiring updates as we continue to support individuals like Rosemary on their journey to self-reliance and success.
