The ACT NAIJA Project (short for Civil Society Action to Strengthen Social Protection in Nigeria) is a three-year initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of civil society organisations, including ANEEJ, Bread for the World, and the New Initiative for Social Development. Its main purpose is to strengthen social protection systems in Nigeria by improving collaboration, dialogue, and accountability between civil society, government agencies, and development partners so that policies and programmes better serve vulnerable populations and contribute to poverty reduction.

The project works in seven Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory, engaging community groups, women, youth, individuals with disabilities, media, and government officials to increase awareness of social protection programmes, monitor implementation, and advocate for inclusive, transparent systems. It also supports community outreach and feedback mechanisms so residents can understand and access social investment initiatives, and it helps build capacity for civil society actors to influence the policy and oversight of programmes like cash transfers, healthcare access, and livelihood support.
As one of the selected NGOs in Enugu, WOCJIN is to perform the function of monitoring some selected communities to ensure that the beneficiaries of the CCT actually received the payment and to further engage these communities by sensitising them on the authenticity of the CCT.

Please make sure that people in your communities are informed about this government programme and its benefits. They can obtain additional information about this cash transfer from their local government offices, where they can also register as beneficiaries of the fund.

This is what Africa Faith & Justice Network Nigeria and Women and Child Justice Initiative Nigeria WOCJIN have been condemning for the past 6years.
Poor parenting is a contributory factor

‎"Please, I really need some advice & guidance. I'm 16 years old, but ever since I had my baby, I feel like I'm walking around with a huge sign on my forehead that says "FAILURE" 😭

‎It's like everyone is looking at me, & I just feel so ashamed all the time, like I did something horribly wrong😭😭😭😭
‎I used to live with my mom, but things got so uncomfortable that I had to run away from home & go stay with grandma. Even my own mom would constantly insult me.

‎She'd call me wayward & say I ruined my life by having a baby so young. It hurt so much to hear that from the one person who was supposed to always have my back. Even, I had to drop out of school cuz of the constant mockery.

‎Walking into class felt like walking into a stadium where everyone was pointing at me. The other girls would whisper things like, "Look at the baby mama," at times they'd even sing little cruel songs about me. All these just made me want to disappear.

‎I don't know if I made a mistake or committed a crime by giving birth to this baby. Sometimes I feel like... I'm never going to be normal again. Like all the dreams I had—going to university, getting a good job—they've all just burned to ashes. I worry that my life is over before it even really began.

‎The only thing that's keeping me going is the sound of my baby's laugh. When I look into his eyes & see how much he needs me, it reminds me that I'm not just a mistake; I'm someone's entire world."
