The ACT NAIJA Project (short for Civil Society Action to Strengthen Social Protection in Nigeria) is a three-year initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of civil society organisations, including ANEEJ, Bread for the World, and the New Initiative for Social Development. Its main purpose is to strengthen social protection systems in Nigeria by improving collaboration, dialogue, and accountability between civil society, government agencies, and development partners so that policies and programmes better serve vulnerable populations and contribute to poverty reduction.
The project works in seven Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory, engaging community groups, women, youth, individuals with disabilities, media, and government officials to increase awareness of social protection programmes, monitor implementation, and advocate for inclusive, transparent systems. It also supports community outreach and feedback mechanisms so residents can understand and access social investment initiatives, and it helps build capacity for civil society actors to influence the policy and oversight of programmes like cash transfers, healthcare access, and livelihood support.
As one of the selected NGOs in Enugu, WOCJIN is to perform the function of monitoring some selected communities to ensure that the beneficiaries of the CCT actually received the payment and to further engage these communities by sensitising them on the authenticity of the CCT.
Please make sure that people in your communities are informed about this government programme and its benefits. They can obtain additional information about this cash transfer from their local government offices, where they can also register as beneficiaries of the fund.
