🌍 OgoAmaka Foundation Seeks Strategic Partnership with Ministry on Groundbreaking GBV Innovation 🌍

Earlier this week, OgoAmaka Foundation for Youth and Women Development, led by our Executive Director, Amb. Onyebara Chizoba , paid a working visit to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development to present — a groundbreaking mobile app developed in collaboration with our international partners from the University at Buffalo , USA. is designed to help curb gender-based violence and offer real-time support to and , including access to emergency services, reporting tools, and psychosocial care.
Prof. Cynthia Tysick, who represented the New York team, delivered a live demo of the app and appealed for the Ministry’s collaboration in mobilizing local support for a successful launch.

The Honorable Commissioner for Gender, Children and Social Development, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkechi Ewoh warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the initiative as both timely and innovative. She pledged the Ministry’s full support and partnership to ensure the app’s wide-scale adoption and integration into existing support systems for vulnerable populations. This project directly supports SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Together, we are leveraging technology to protect lives, promote justice, and build a safer, more equitable society. 💜

🎉 OJI-RIVER YOUTH EMPOWERED! 🎉

Yesterday, Wednesday, 16th July 2025, OgoAmaka Foundation, in partnership with MasterCard Foundation, Jobberman Nigeria and Nnenna Nnaedozie Foundation, successfully hosted a life-changing Entrepreneurship & Employability Training at the Federal Cooperative College, Oji-River. With over 300 vibrant young participants between the ages of 18–35 in attendance, the energy was electric as the team delivered high-impact sessions on business startup, job readiness, and access to funding. Several participants left the event with instant job placements, and practical tools to scale or launch their businesses. Interestingly, some lecturers at the college who attended the sessions also testified that they gained immense value and learnt new insights, even though they were not eligible for certification due to the age restriction. The event was spiced up with tea-breaks, lunch, gift items for early birds, and exciting cash giveaways — all at no cost to the participants!

We are proud to announce that every eligible participant went home with a globally recognized Entrepreneurship Certificate from the MasterCard Foundation, unlocking new doors of opportunity. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the leadership of Federal Cooperative College, Oji-River for granting us access and extending their warm hospitality throughout the program. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited about the ripple effect this will create in Oji-River and beyond. The journey to youth economic empowerment continues — and OgoAmaka Foundation remains committed to delivering lasting impact across communities.

There we had an interaction with the girls on how getting quality education can enhance their quality of life and determine the kind of future they will have. We talked about what the future holds for girls in our local community and globaly and also worked on creating vision boards and setting action plans.

Yesterday our foundation joined some selected Stakeholders in Enugu to Dialogue on Advancing the Women Peace and Security Agenda . Lead by the incredible by Prof. Joy Onyesoh we took a dip dive into the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and how it empowers CSOs to get involved in issues concerning women's rights and global peace. Indeed a lot of women around the world ( especially in conflict prone regions) are at high risk of experiencing all forms of abuse especially sexual violence; hence the need for us to work together in the actualization and domestication of the World Peace and Security Agenda.
Make a commitment today to ensure the safety of women and girls around you as we strive to create a safer world for us all.

Few days ago,I joined the NDLEA, Enugu State command to commemorate the International Day Against Drug and Illicit Trafficking. Speaking on the team for 2024, "The evidence of clear; invest in prevention", I engaged the audience in a conversation on how we all can work together to ensure we free society of the menace of drug abuse and it's trafficking.
Our efforts to combat drugs abuse and illicit trafficking are closely linked to goals 3,4,8 and 16 of the . Good health and well-being (goal 3) as well as Decent Work and Economic Growth (goal 8) cannot be attained in a society where drugs are abused or trafficed. And so through quality education programs (goal 4), we can provide young people with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions so as to foster a generation that is resilient against the lure of drugs.
