👑 Respecting Authority

In workplace, classroom, or team, authority exists for order, growth, and accountability. Respecting it isn’t weakness — it’s wisdom.
📖 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” – Romans 13:1
💡 Powerful Thoughts & Quotes:
🔹 “Rebellion may look bold, but submission builds lasting influence.”
🔹 “You can’t lead well tomorrow if you don’t learn to follow well today.”
🔹 “Respecting authority is not about the person — it’s about honoring the God who placed them there.”
🔹 “Disrespect closes doors; honor unlocks them.
🔹 “Even when you disagree, you can still respect.”
✅ Respecting authority at work earns you trust.
✅ Respecting mentors opens doors to wisdom.
✅ Respecting leaders shows you’re ready to lead.
👉 True greatness doesn’t fight authority — it learns under it, grows through it, and shines beyond it.

🔥 Handling Criticism with Grace
Not every arrow is meant to destroy you — some are meant to sharpen you.
Not every critic is your enemy — sometimes God uses their voice to refine your path.
📖 “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.” – Proverbs 1:5
When you’re criticized:
✅ Listen before reacting – Even unfair words can hold hidden lessons.
✅ Respond, don’t retaliate – Grace is louder than anger.
✅ Filter with wisdom – Keep what builds you, drop what breaks you.
✅ Grow through it – Diamonds are formed under pressure.
Remember:
👉 Criticism is proof you’re doing something that matters.
👉 Your response determines if you’ll rise or remain.
💼 Professionals who handle criticism with grace don’t just survive the workplace — they lead it.

Being Punctual & Reliable
In today’s world, talent may open doors — but punctuality and reliability keep them open.
📖 “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:2
🔹 True Story:
Chidi, a young IT consultant, once lost a job interview because he arrived 15 minutes late. Traffic was his excuse — but the panel said, “If you can’t be on time for an interview, how can we trust you with clients?”
Humbled, he made a personal vow to honor time. Months later, another firm noticed his consistent punctuality during a project and made him their go-to person. That reputation earned him a promotion ahead of more “talented” colleagues.
💡 Lesson:
Reliability isn’t about skill alone — it’s about showing up consistently, on time, and prepared.
✅ Punctuality shows respect — for God, for people, and for opportunities.
✅ Reliability builds trust — colleagues know they can count on you.
✅ Faithfulness attracts favor — both from God and man.
👉 Don’t just be good at what you do. Be someone others can rely on — every time.

The Christian Work Ethic

The workplace isn’t just where we earn a salary — it’s where we showcase Christ through diligence, integrity, and excellence.
📖 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” – Colossians 3:23

🔹 What does Christian Work Ethic look like?
✅ Excellence in Tasks
A Christian nurse doesn’t just give medication — she gives it with care, compassion, and precision, reflecting the love of Christ.

✅ Integrity in Dealings
A Christian accountant won’t “adjust” the books to hide losses, even if pressured. Honesty is more valuable than a quick fix.

✅ Punctuality & Responsibility
A Christian teacher doesn’t stroll into class late because “students will understand.” Instead, he honors time as stewardship before God.

✅ Team Spirit
A Christian software engineer doesn’t hoard knowledge to look smarter. He shares ideas freely, knowing true leadership lifts other

🌍 Why it matters:
The world is watching. Our emails, deadlines, meetings, and reports are all opportunities to glorify God through excellence.
👉 Your desk can be your pulpit.
👉 Your attitude can be your testimony.
👉 Your work ethic can open doors for the gospel without you saying a word.

When Faith & Company Policies Clash

Every Christian professional will, at some point, face moments when their faith convictions collide with company expectations. What do you do when standing for truth means standing alone?

📖 “We ought to obey God rather than men.” – Acts 5:29

🔹 True Story:
A young banker in Lagos was instructed to adjust figures to “balance” an account before auditors arrived. It was a small change — “no one would notice.” But he knew it was dishonesty. With respect, he refused.

The decision cost him a warning letter… but months later, during a fraud investigation, his integrity came to light. That same reputation earned him a promotion and trust in higher responsibilities.

💡 Takeaway:
Faith may make you look “different” in the short term, but in the long run, integrity elevates you.

✅ Respect authority.
✅ Stand firm on truth.
✅ Trust God with the outcome.

At YPF, we believe you can honor God and excel at work — no compromise needed.
