Rotary Club of Effurun GRA District 9141 Nigeria was chartered 1st November, 2012. We meet every week on Thursdays at Ishaka Hotel, Refinery Road, Ekpan, Effurun-Delta State. You'll find us gathering to socialize at 12:30pm, with our meeting officially beginning at 1:00pm, and ending promptly at 2:00pm. You'll meet some interesting and friendly people, and hear an interesting speaker. Our club’s membership is quite diverse and mirrors the diversity in our community. Our core membership is comprised of vibrant area professionals and civic leaders. We are a decidedly younger Rotary club than most with a unique approach of meeting in the mid-day; the wide range of cultural backgrounds brings a vital richness and connection to the world. Our club has modified the formal meeting structure of traditional Rotary Clubs and has created a fresh model that fits the current trends in business and social environments. Our meetings are informal fellowship meetings; attire is casual or business casual. The elements of a Rotary meeting are still there and our vision is to serve our local community. We are making a positive impact in health, education, and essential living needs locally, regionally and internationally through our volunteer efforts and fundraising. From the formation our emphasis was on timely meetings, hands-on service projects, and a diversity of membership in both demographics and classifications, with the same dedication to Service Above Self and the spirit of Rotary. Since our founding, we have undertaken many service projects. Hands-on service projects help us to do tangible good in our community while also developing close camaraderie with our members. Fellowship is a key component of any Rotary Club. In our brief history, our membership has included couples, family members, and even friends. Internationally, our club has been active from the start with several members who are Rotary Foundation Alumni. From the start, our goal was to be full and active participants in Rotary internationally, at the District and Zonal levels, and in our club, our approach may be different from the norm, but the result continues to be an active, growing, and vibrant addition to Rotary in District 9140, Nigeria. We have proven that there are always new ways to involve people in Paul Harris’s vision of a collection of professionals dedicated to the ideal of service.
