35 Years of Unity, Progress and Hope

As Jigawa State celebrates 35 years since its creation, Prime Initiative for Community Development and Fiscal Transparency extends warm congratulations and goodwill to the Government and good people of Jigawa State.

Over the past three and a half decades, Jigawa has made remarkable strides in human development, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, economic empowerment and democratic governance.

This anniversary is not only a celebration of our journey, but also an opportunity to reflect on the work ahead. We call for renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, inclusive development, responsible public finance and citizen participation in building a stronger Jigawa.

May the next chapter bring greater prosperity, peace, opportunities for our young people and women, improved public services, and a more inclusive economy where every citizen has a stake in the State's development.

PRIME INITIATIVE LAUNCHES “WAKE-UP CALL” CAMPAIGN TO BREAK THE SILENCE ON THE MARGINALIZATION OF THE BOY CHILD

For Immediate Release

Dutse, Jigawa State – May 2026
Prime Initiative for Community Development and Fiscal Transparency has launched a major advocacy campaign titled “Wake-Up Call: Breaking the Silence Against the Marginalization of the Boy Child” as part of activities marking the 2026 International Day of the Boy Child.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness on the growing but often ignored challenges facing boys across communities, including abuse, violence, school dropout, substance abuse, mental health struggles, child labour, and social exclusion.
Speaking on the campaign, the organization emphasized that while efforts to protect vulnerable groups must continue, the welfare and protection of boys should not be neglected.

According to the organization, many boys continue to suffer silently due to harmful societal stereotypes that discourage them from speaking out or seeking help. The campaign therefore aims to promote inclusive conversations, community support systems, mentorship opportunities, and policy actions that safeguard the rights and dignity of every boy child.

The awareness campaign will feature:
Community sensitization programs
School outreach activities
Media advocacy engagements
Mentorship and leadership sessions
Stakeholder dialogues
Online advocacy conversations and public enlightenment campaigns.

Prime Initiative noted that the campaign is designed to encourage parents, teachers, religious leaders, traditional institutions, civil society organizations, government agencies, and development partners to collectively support the emotional, educational, and social well-being of boys.

The organization further stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved when no child is left behind.
Advocacy Message:
“Every child deserves protection, dignity, opportunity, and a voice. No boy child should suffer in silence.”

Prime Initiative for Community Development and Fiscal Transparency called on stakeholders, media organizations, youth groups, and members of the public to join the movement and amplify conversations that promote protection, inclusion, and equal opportunities for boys.

🌟 From Learning to Impact: A Story of Change from Jigawa 🌟

At Prime Initiative for Community Development and Fiscal Transparency, we believe that when citizens understand the budget, they can shape development in their communities.

One inspiring example is Nuriya Haruna Bako, Founder/Coordinator of Jigawa Women Entrepreneurs Network.

Nuriya participated in our Multi-Stakeholder Engagement on Budget Implementation, Tracking and Advocacy supported by Christian Aid in Nigeria. Before the training, she never paid much attention to understanding state budget and tax provisions. But through the knowledge and practical skills gained, her perspective completely changed.

After the training, she began tracking the 2025 state budget and discovered a provision for a trade fair under the Ministry of Commerce.

Rather than stopping at awareness, she took action.

Through JIWEN, she formally applied for support and partnership to host a trade fair in Dutse. The budget was approved, funds were released, and the trade fair was successfully held — creating significant opportunities for women entrepreneurs across the state.

Building on this momentum, she also advocated for capacity building for cooperative members, which has now been included in the proposed 2026 budget.
