Education as a Foundation for Hope and Progress

Yesterday marked a proud and inspiring moment for our community as representatives of the Damboa Youths Development Association (DYDA) had the honor and privilege of attending the Education Outreach Program organized by the Alhaji Lumami Foundation (ALF).

The initiative was inspired by a report shared on the Damboa Transformation and Community Empowerment Forum WhatsApp platform, which revealed that many pupils attend school without basic learning materials such as uniforms, exercise books, pencils, and school bags.

In response, a thorough needs assessment was conducted, leading to the support of 100 pupils, 60 girls and 40 boys, who were provided with essential school materials to boost their confidence, encourage regular attendance, and enhance their learning experience.

The program attracted key stakeholders and leaders, including the Chairman of Damboa Local Government Area (represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture), the Education Secretary, the PTA Chairman, and the Head Teacher. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to strengthening education in our community.

We extend special appreciation to our son of the soil, Dr. Modu Alhaji Lumami (Modu Shuwa), Founder of the Alhaji Lumami Foundation, for his foresight, passion, and unwavering dedication to education and community development in Damboa and beyond.

We also sincerely acknowledge our son and daughter of the soil, Kaumi Wakil (Executive Director, Giscor Giscor) and Aishatu Alhaji Aishatu Alhaji Kabu (Executive Director, Zegcawis Zegcawis), for their consistent support for education, not only in Damboa but across Borno State.

As youths, we firmly believe that investing in education is an investment in a peaceful, enlightened, and prosperous society. We commend ALF and all its partners for this impactful intervention and reaffirm our collective resolve to continue supporting initiatives that help our children learn, grow, and succeed.

Damboa Youths Development Association (DYDA) Celebrates International Day of the Girl Child!

DYDA was honored to participate in the International Day of the Girl Child media press conference organized by ZEGCAWIS. The event, 'Girls' Vision for the Future', highlighted the importance of amplifying girls' voices and advocating for their rights. Restoring Hope, Empowering Education

In 2014, Borno State's education system was ravaged by Boko Haram's insurgency, forcing the closure of primary schools across several Local Government Areas. Undaunted, the Damboa Youth Development Association (DYDA) sprang into action.

After the Nigerian Military liberated Damboa town, DYDA pioneered an informal primary school, providing a safe haven for young learners and bridging the gap until government schools reopened. We further empowered vulnerable pupils with free school uniforms worth ₦600,000, fostering dignity and equality.

Our commitment to education continued:

- In 2015, DYDA facilitated a computer training program, sponsored by Hon. Mohammed Kauji, benefiting 10 Damboa indigenes with University of Maiduguri certifications.

- In 2016, DYDA partnered with UNICEF to establish Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) in four locations, promoting psychosocial support, protection, and education for vulnerable children.

- In 2017, DYDA launched affordable transportation services for women and children with the acquisition of a Hummer Bus.

When floods devastated Maiduguri, DYDA responded swiftly, distributing cash, food, and Non-Food Items (NFIs) to affected Damboa students.

Our Mission Continues

Empowering Damboa's youth through education, humanitarian aid, and community development. Join us in restoring hope and shaping a brighter future.

UPDATE FROM THE FIELD! HISTORY MADE IN KAYA VILLAGE!

Today, we celebrated the triumphant return of IDPs to their ancestral homes in Kaya Village, Gumsuri/Misha/Kirbutu Ward!

Our organization, Damboa Youth Development Association (DYDA), was honored to support this initiative, invited by Hon. Ali M Kauji, Chairman of Damboa Local Government Council. Although our Chairman was unable to attend due to travel, our team represented DYDA and joined forces with other compassionate citizens to make this happen!

Together, we walked alongside the IDPs, supporting their reintegration and welcoming them back to their community. This noble effort promotes peace, development, and unity in our area!

We want to emphasize that our organization's involvement was purely humanitarian and community-focused, with no political undertones. Our goal is to promote peace, development, and unity in our community.

As a Community-Based Organisation, we're thrilled to see this initiative boost our agricultural economy and bring life back to our community!
