Our Advocacy Champions have successfully conducted sensitization sessions across Damaturu, Potiskum, and Bade LGAs in Yobe State, raising awareness on the effects of stigmatization against survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV).

Through open dialogue and community engagement, these sessions challenged harmful norms, encouraged empathy, and promoted support for survivors.

We remain committed to building communities where dignity is protected and survivors are not silenced, but supported.

Congratulations, Imrana Alhaji Buba, PhD.Please accept our heartfelt congratulations from all of us at YIAT.

In January, our Advocacy Consultant, AB Machina, delivered a training for over 200 participants of our Interim Reparations Measures (IRM) project in Yobe and Adamawa States.

The training focused on strengthening survivor-led advocacy for reparations and social reintegration under the IRM project, funded by Global Survivors Fund. Participants discussed practical approaches for survivors to lead advocacy efforts that promote community reintegration and advance survivor-centered policies and reparations.

We appreciate the commitment of the WCCCSF network members in Yobe and Adamawa whose participation made the training impactful.

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of Phase II of the Interim Reparative Measures (IRM) Project, funded by Global Survivors Fund and implemented by the Youth Initiative Against Terrorism (YIAT) in Adamawa and Yobe States.

Over the past three years, the project supported survivors of conflict-related sexual violence through survivor-centred reparations, including livelihood assistance, medical care, psychosocial care, and education support. Survivors were not treated as passive beneficiaries but as decision-makers, designing their own recovery pathways and rebuilding economic stability, dignity, and confidence. The project also strengthened family mediation, reduced stigma, and improved community reintegration.

A major milestone of this phase was the implementation of the Collective IRM, where survivors jointly selected and implemented community projects benefiting both survivors and the wider community.

We are proud of the resilience, leadership, and courage shown by survivors throughout this journey, and we thank our staff, partners, and community stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to restorative justice and survivor dignity.

We have attached some photos from the launch of the Collective IRM in Yola, Adamawa State, in December 2025.

Yesterday marked another successful day for Youth Initiative Against Terrorism - YIAT and Global Survivors Fund with the launch of a new Solar-powered borehole in Gishiwa Dabuwa Community, Potiskum.

For a long time, the remote community of Gishiwa Dabuwa has suffered from a severe water shortage. Identified through our Collective Interim Reparative Measures Project, the community has now been equipped with a standard borehole. This facility will provide clean, adequate water for residents and the cemetery of the community.

Kudos to our dedicated team, the Water Management Committee, and the community leadership for making this possible.

As we continue rolling out our collective interim reparative measures projects across Yobe and Adamawa, we made a meaningful stop in Gashu’a yesterday, where we launched a new borehole and community garden. Grateful for the progress and the impact these projects will bring.

We are grateful to our field team Harris Sayemo, Ibrahim Makinta, Aisha Kadai, and Hannah Akingbade for attending the launch event.

Yesterday, together with our partners Global Survivors Fund, we proudly launched a community borehole and community garden in Furfure (Adamawa state) as part of our collective interim reparation effort for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.

Seeing the joy, the relief, and the strength in the community reminded us why this work matters. Clean water, a place to grow food, and a shared space to rebuild, these are foundations of dignity and healing.
