Who says politics is not a place for women?

Hauwerh Chellumi, a YLGA Cohort 3 Fellow is proving otherwise.

Through her Empowering Young Women for Political Participation and Public Leadership project in Yobe State, she trained 20 young women in leadership and civic engagement, creating a space where confidence meets action.

And when the workshop ended, the movement continued. Through the newly formed Women's Political Impact Hub, young women now have a platform to learn, connect, and prepare for leadership.

"Tambaya ba fada ba ce."
For Jiddartuh Adam, a YLGA Cohort 3 Fellow, those words became the foundation of a movement.

Through her Transparency Trailblazers project in Damaturu, she helped citizens understand that demanding accountability is a right, not a conflict. She trained community members on budget tracking, public finance, the Freedom of Information Act, and collective advocacy, inspiring a new generation of citizens ready to engage and ask informed questions.

Her work led to the birth of the Trailblazers for Accountability Coalition, proving that transparency grows when ordinary people are empowered with knowledge.

Be part of the Northeast Youth Idea Summit 2.0 to listen to Hauwa's story that will remind us that better communities begin when people dare to ask.

What if governance wasn't something young people only complained about but something they could understand, shape, and own?

That question inspired Musa Muhammad Musa, a YLGA Cohort 3 Fellow and the Creative Club of Gombe State University to launch GO-Open: Grassroot Open Governance Initiative.

Through stakeholder engagement, a one-day bootcamp, and practical sessions on project tracking, digital advocacy, and civic participation, young people in Shamaki Ward were equipped not just with knowledge, but with tools to drive change. Participants explored platforms like Bayani AI, generated advocacy content, and built a growing network of young transparency champions.

Be at the Northeast Youth Idea Summit 2.0, to listen to Musa's story to help reminds us that transparency begins from the grassroots

What happens when civic education leaves the classroom and meets young girls where they are?

Indo Indo, a YLGA Cohort 3 Fellow, answered that question with action.

Through her "From Classroom to Community" project in Maiduguri, she empowered 30 secondary school girls with civic education, leadership skills, and governance knowledge. Beyond conversations, she reinforced dignity and confidence by providing support items and creating a safe space for young girls to learn, lead, and believe in themselves.

At the Northeast Youth Idea Summit 2.0, Aisha's story will remind us that when young girls understand their voice, communities gain leaders.

Be there to listen to her story.

Who says civic action only happens in boardrooms?

For Emmanuella T. Koka, a YLGA Cohort 3 Fellow, it started with conversations.

Through her Civic Action for Community Engagement and Good Governance project in Tumfure, Gombe State, she transformed everyday interactions into opportunities for learning and participation. By engaging market traders, women, youth, and student leaders, she helped strengthen understanding of accountability and active citizenship.

And through community dialogues and a town hall meeting, she reached over 50 people with one simple message: Change begins where people are willing to talk, listen, and act.

At the Northeast Youth Idea Summit 2.0, Emmanuella's story will proves that powerful civic movements can begin with ordinary conversations.
