The Leventis Foundation Nigeria, in collaboration with the self-funded Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Volunteer Technical Assistance Program, hosted a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop at its Yaba School from June 1 to June 6, 2026. The program was facilitated by Dr. William Zimmerman, PhD, and focused on practical and sustainable agricultural innovations including compost production, biocides, and biofertilizer technologies.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of staff and trainees to adopt and transfer environmentally sound agricultural practices. Participants were equipped with hands-on knowledge on converting organic waste into compost, using biological agents for pest and disease control, and producing biofertilizers to improve soil fertility while reducing dependence on synthetic inputs.
A key highlight of the workshop was its strong alignment with environmental sustainability principles, particularly soil health restoration, waste recycling, and reduction of chemical pollution in agriculture. Significantly, the workshop coincided with the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, reinforcing the global call for sustainable environmental practices and responsible resource management.
The training activities reflected the spirit of World Environment Day by promoting eco-friendly farming methods that contribute to environmental protection, healthier ecosystems, and sustainable food production.
Through practical demonstrations and field-based learning, participants gained valuable skills that support climate-smart agriculture and environmental conservation.
