Subject: URGENT INTERVENTION - PAYROLL CAPTURE FOR QUALIFIED RURAL PHC WORKERS ACROSS 18 LGAs

I write as a concerned citizen and advocate for justice and public health in Cross River State.
For over 12 months, qualified and licensed Primary Health Care workers posted across all 18 LGAs have served diligently in rural facilities. Their appointments remain subsisting. Daily, they deliver maternal care, immunizations, emergency treatment, and community health services that keep People First alive in our villages.
Yet, despite being duly employed and actively working, they remain unpaid and uncaptured on the state payroll. No arrears. No monthly wages. Only duty.
Ma, government is proposing the recruitment of 2,000 new health workers. That is commendable. But fairness demands priority. Before we expand, we must first honor those who have carried the burden of PHC for a year without pay. To recruit new staff while existing, licensed, and loyal workers languish unpaid weakens morale and contradicts the spirit of People First.
I therefore respectfully urge CRSPHCDA to.
1. Verify and nominally capture all affected, qualified PHC workers across the 18 LGAs whose appointments are active but unpaid.
2. Approve and release their salary arrears and current entitlements without further delay.
This single act will stabilize our PHC system, restore dignity, and reinforce public trust in your administration’s commitment to human capital.
