Today, on the World Day Against Child Labour, we stand in solidarity with millions of children around the world whose childhood, education, and dreams are threatened by child labour.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, play, and thrive in a safe environment. Yet, many children are still forced into work that deprives them of their right to education and a brighter future.

Child labour robs children of their childhood, limits their opportunities, and exposes them to risks that can affect their well-being and future. Today serves as a reminder that governments, communities, organizations, and individuals all have a role to play in protecting children and ensuring their rights are upheld.

Let us continue to advocate for children's rights and create opportunities that keep children safe, protected, and free to pursue their dreams.

According to the ILO, boys account for 97 million of the world’s 160 million child labourers.

The boy child is not forgotten, but he is often unseen.

We see their brilliance, their hunger to grow, and the silent pressures they carry peer influence, fear of the future, and the expectation to always be “strong” without asking for help.

Most times, when they are stressed or depressed, they speak to no one.

They deserve mentorship, safe spaces, and adults who intentionally invest in their future.

EMPOWERMENT WAS THE GOAL. HEALTH WAS THE IMPACT.

Last month, in celebration of International Women's Day, The Grit Initiative reached young girls and boy with mentorship, opening their minds to opportunities in education, leadership, and STEM.

But beyond the conversations and inspiration, we took action where it truly mattered. We addressed a critical yet often overlooked challenge. Period poverty and personal hygiene.

From providing sanitary pads to essential toiletries, we ensured that these girls are not held back by preventable barriers that affect their confidence, attendance, and overall well-being.

Today, as we mark World Health Day, we are reminded that: Good health is not a privilege. It is a foundation for learning and growth.

Because access to basic hygiene means:
Every student shows up to school with confidence

They participate fully without fear or shame

They are free to focus on their dreams.

We remain committed to raising a generation of healthy, confident, and empowered young girls and boys who are ready to thrive in education and health and beyond.
