“Another Chapter of Growth Begins: Second Module of Training”

Today, Monday, 4th May, 2026, we resumed for the Second Module of Training at our Braille Center—and it was a special moment as we reunited with our students, each returning with renewed determination.

This session, they will be trained in Braille reading and writing, mobility and orientation, daily living skills, typewriting, and creative arts—skills that support independence and confidence.

Our instructor, Dr. Mrs. Flora Usang, encouraged the students with a heartfelt session, setting the tone for growth and responsibility. It was moving to hear the students express gratitude—many who once felt hopeless are now learning, growing, and believing again.

We sincerely appreciate our sponsor, Dr. Mrs. Liz Trimnell, whose continued support—especially daily transportation—makes this journey possible.

More than a resumption, today marks renewed hope and another step toward independence.

🏅Champions Through Determination🚴‍♂️🥇🏆

It was another proud moment for us as Aki Emmanuel Okon representing Team Cross River, alongside Iya Okon Iya, delivered an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Open Track Championship, winning Gold in the B-Class Tandem cycling category.

Competing against top athletes from across the country, their coordination, strength, and focus stood out. Their victory is a powerful reminder that success is not defined by limitations, but by determination, discipline, and hard work.

From consistent training to outstanding performance, Emmanuel Aki have shown that disability is not a barrier—it is a challenge that can be overcome with courage and commitment.

As they prepare for the African Track Cycling Championship (May 19th–27th, 2026, Abuja), we celebrate their journey and cheer them on for even greater achievements.

When determination meets opportunity, ability will always rise above limitation. 🚴‍♂️

A Journey from Dependence to Independence — Meet Mr. Joseph Udoh

Today, we proudly introduce Mr. Joseph Udoh.

He lost his sight in his 40s—a life-changing moment that brought many challenges. We still remember when he first arrived at our center, gently guided by his wife, uncertain of what lay ahead.

Today, Joseph’s story is different.

He now moves about independently, traveling to and from the rehabilitation center on his own—even from a long distance. Through determination and consistent training, he has become one of our outstanding students in Braille this term.

Beyond literacy, Joseph is also developing practical skills—crafting beaded purses, staff, and flower vases, each piece reflecting patience, growth, and a renewed sense of purpose.

His journey is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to rebuild, relearn, and rise.

A Story of Strength, Growth, and Hope — Meet Duke Eyo Ekpo

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing videos of our members showcasing their handcrafted works. We invite you to support them—because every purchase is a step toward independence.

Today, we introduce Duke Eyo.

Duke lost his sight as a young boy, and life became extremely challenging for him and his mother. But everything began to change when he was enrolled at our rehabilitation center. There, he learned Braille reading and writing, mobility and orientation, and typewriting—skills that helped him rebuild his confidence and direction.

A year later, Duke was enrolled into the Special Education Secondary School, starting from JS1. Today, he is in SS3, preparing to sit for his WAEC (May/June) and has also registered for JAMB—a powerful testament to his resilience and determination.

Despite how far he has come, Duke still needs support, especially with transportation and completing his education.

In the midst of all this, Duke has learned to create beautiful leather sandals and pams—a skill he is using to support himself and build a future.

We invite you to support Duke—not just by admiring his work, but by patronizing and encouraging his journey.
