Dear Dr. Chika,

I just want to sincerely appreciate you for the incredible impact you made in our lives during our time in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. You were far more than a lecturer to us,
You were a mother, a mentor, and a source of encouragement to so many students.

Your passion for teaching, your patience, and the genuine care you showed towards every student will never be forgotten. You carried the department with so much dedication and love, and it reflected in the way you guided and supported us academically and personally.

Thank you for every sacrifice, every word of encouragement, every correction, and every moment you chose to care beyond the classroom. The values and knowledge you instilled in us will continue to stay with us wherever life takes us.

May God continue to strengthen, bless, and reward you abundantly for all you do. You truly made a difference in our lives, and we are grateful to have crossed paths with someone as exceptional as you.

With deep respect and appreciation,
Wilson.

Early last month, our students at the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Calabar, participated in a multi-phase community outreach initiative in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2025.

In partnership with NutriLife Nigeria, this collaboration moved beyond the classroom and into the community, allowing our students to apply evidence-based frameworks like the Health Belief Model in real-time settings. From conducting large-group sensitisation to supporting one-on-one conversations with mothers, this hands-on engagement deepened their understanding of nutrition communication and public health interventions.

We remain committed to ensuring that our students not only learn what to do but experience how to do it; gaining practical, context-specific skills that prepare them to be leaders at local, national, and global levels.
A huge thank you to the Head of Department and all the staff and students who participated in this.

This is just the beginning.

In line with World Breastfeeding Week, the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Calabar, is proud to support an outreach initiative that puts classroom knowledge into real-world practice.

This year, interested students will join a community-based breastfeeding support project, engaging directly with mothers in Calabar. The goal? To translate theory into impact, reinforcing what’s taught in class with evidence-based interventions that support maternal and child health.

📚 Students will receive pre-outreach training built on the Health Belief Model and the National MIYCN Guidelines, ensuring they’re equipped with both scientific understanding and cultural relevance.

This initiative is carried out in collaboration with NutriLife Nigeria and provides an excellent opportunity for students to contribute meaningfully while strengthening their professional portfolios.

👉🏽 Interested and available students should indicate interest. Details for the training session will be shared soon.
Let’s turn knowledge into sustainable impact.
