𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗛𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗔𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘-𝗗𝗔𝗘𝗪𝗢𝗢 𝗕𝗢𝗚𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧...

Following the shutting down of the entrance gate at the early hours of the morning today the 7th of September 2026 by Workers absorbed into the BOGT Renaissance Project over concerns surrounding salary and welfare, the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), alongside relevant and the management of Daewoo team, has continued engagements aimed at finding a fair, peaceful and sustainable resolution.

The BIRC team, led by the Chairman, Hon. Jumbo Julius Adawari , addressed the workforce and members of the public, providing clarity on the progress of the ongoing salary discussions.

So far, significant headway has been made. Following a roundtable engagement, salary adjustments for unskilled and semi-skilled workers have been negotiated by the 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙮 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙤 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚 (𝘽𝙆𝙁𝙏𝙊) & Renaissance as proposed upon, which will be rounded up mid month or before ending, with implementation on a 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙊𝙂𝙏 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩, expected from September unfailingly. While Discussions concerning the remuneration of skilled personnel, however, are still ongoing and negotiable.

The Chairman therefore appealed for calm, patience and constructive engagement, assuring workers and the public that BIRC remains committed to ensuring that no worker is treated unfairly and that issues concerning wages and welfare are addressed through dialogue and due process.

He also commended the management of Daewoo for choosing the path of dialogue by engaging relevant institutions and stakeholders rather than taking the law into their own hands. This approach, he noted, is essential to maintaining industrial peace while legitimate concerns are being addressed.

The objective is not merely to end a shutdown; it is to build a fairer and more sustainable framework for workers’ welfare.

Workers of Shell Daewoo have reportedly downed tools over concerns regarding workers’ welfare, improved working conditions, and salary increments.

The workers are calling on management to address their grievances and ensure that their welfare and remuneration receive the attention they deserve.

This is to bring to your notice that the transformer feeding one divide at wilbros road (TX29) suddenly developed a serious technical fault. After a careful troubleshooting to assertain the cause, it was confirmed damaged beyond repair. on that note, the said divide, that is testimonial axis will not have power tonight pending the replacement of a new one.

Bonny Local Government Area has commended the RA Ladies Association for establishing the Ibani-Se Traditional Attires & Crafts Development Centre in Finima Town, Bonny Island.

The Centre, a community support project of the RA Ladies Association, is designed to preserve and promote indigenous Ibani crafts, including traditional attires, wrapper-making, bead-making, cane crafts and other traditional skills, while equipping women and youths with skills for economic empowerment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Leader of the RA Ladies Association, Dr. Mrs. Ijeoma Omeoga, said the initiative was driven by the need to preserve Ibani heritage and transfer valuable traditional knowledge to younger generations.

The Vice Chairman, Hon. Ibinyefagha Renner Alabere, speaking on behalf of the Chairman of Bonny LGA, encouraged the women and youths participating in the training programme to take the opportunity seriously, develop their creativity and view the acquired skills not only as cultural practices but also as viable avenues for sustainable businesses and livelihoods.

She also urged participants to embrace modern branding, digital marketing and online platforms to take their products beyond Finima and Bonny to wider markets.

The initiative marks another significant step towards preserving Bonny’s rich cultural heritage while creating practical pathways for skills development, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny has approved a major redesign of its curriculum and lecture timetable for part-time studies, reducing the duration of its National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) part-time programmes from three years to two years effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The decision was reached at the institution’s most recent Academic Board meeting held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, where members resolved to shorten the duration of courses in the part-time programme in line with the Polytechnic’s commitment to improving academic delivery and enhancing access to quality technical education. Under the new arrangement, lectures for part-time students will be conducted on an intensive schedule from Monday to Saturday.

The revised timetable is designed to ensure that students receive adequate instructional contact hours while completing their programmes within the new two-year structure.

This development reflects the Polytechnic’s effort to strengthen the efficiency of its part-time studies and provide a more flexible but rigorous learning framework for students seeking to combine education with other responsibilities.
