Sometime in 2014, I, Pastor Clifford Umeh, attended a church programme in Igando at a ministry known as Rhema Dominion Praises. What I witnessed that day would later become a defining moment in my life and purpose.
Upon arriving at the church, I noticed an unusual scene, there was a man lying helplessly on the altar, surrounded by several pastors who were deeply engaged in intense prayers for him. Out of curiosity and concern, I asked someone nearby what was happening. I was told that the man had lost the function of his kidney and was battling kidney failure.
I was immediately overwhelmed with emotion. I stood there, almost speechless, watching the desperate prayers being offered on his behalf. After a long and intense prayer session, the presiding pastor of the church, Apostle Rufus Obiakor, made an announcement. He called on any other pastors present to join in unity with those already praying for the man.
Being a pastor myself, I stepped forward and joined the prayer chain. After some time, the instruction was given that each pastor should say a personal, private prayer for the man.
When it got to my turn, something extraordinary happened.
As I prepared to pray, I heard a voice clearly in my spirit say:
“Give him one of your kidneys free of charge.”
I was startled. I tried to resist the thought, dismissing it as impossible. But the voice came again… and again… and again, stronger each time. It felt as though heaven itself was pressing a demand on my heart. The atmosphere around me changed; I grew cold, overwhelmed by what I was hearing.
I struggled internally. How could I possibly give my kidney to someone I didn’t know?
But the voice would not stop.
Finally, when I was handed the microphone, and with everyone eagerly waiting to hear my prayer point, the words that came out of my mouth shocked even me:
*“Silver or gold I have none to give, but I will give you one of my kidneys.”*
There was instant silence across the entire church. It was so quiet that if a pin had dropped, it would have been heard clearly. Everyone was stunned.
The presiding pastor asked me why I would say such a thing. I simply responded that it was something beyond human explanation.
