*UHUNMWODE LGA INVITES CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS TO WITNESS ISIWINA HARVEST OF HOPE FOOD INITI ATIVE*

*17th June 2026*

As part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and community participation in governance, the Uhunmwode Local Government Council has extended invitations to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to witness the flag-off and distribution of food baskets under the ISIWINA Harvest of Hope (IHH) Food Initiative.

The event, which is the brainchild of the Executive Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Austin Rotimi Imafidon (ISIWINA), is scheduled to hold on: Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Primary Health Centre, Eyean, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

According to the Council Chairman, the initiative is designed to provide dignified food support to vulnerable members of society, particularly widows, the elderly, and other disadvantaged groups, through a structured and organized food basket distribution system.

Hon. Imafidon noted that the programme goes beyond humanitarian assistance, emphasizing that it is also aimed at encouraging the consumption and patronage of locally produced food items and agricultural products.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of building a self-reliant economy driven by local production and consumption, thereby supporting local farmers, traders, and small-scale producers while strengthening food security within the communities.

The Chairman further stated that the Harvest of Hope Initiative seeks to cushion the effects of rising food costs and improve access to balanced nutrition among vulnerable households across the ten political wards of Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

To ensure credibility and public confidence in the process, Civil Society Organizations have been requested to nominate representatives to observe the exercise and provide independent oversight during the distribution.

The Council reassured residents that adequate arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a smooth, orderly, and transparent distribution process, while beneficiaries have been carefully identified through community-based structures to ensure that support reaches those most in need.

The ISIWINA Harvest of Hope Food Initiative is another demonstration of the people-oriented leadership of Hon. Austin Imafidon, whose administration continues to prioritize social welfare, grassroots development, and and economic empowerment across Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

*UHUNMWODE APC VICE CHAIRMAN RALLIES WARD LEADERS FOR 2.5 MILLION VOTES AGENDA IN UHUNMWODE*

*14/06/2026*

The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, *Mr. Sylvester Obazee,* *popularly known as "Dagbo*," has called on all APC Ward Vice Chairmen in the local government to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts aimed at advancing the party's objectives and actualizing the ambitious target of delivering 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking during a strategic maiden meeting of APC Ward Vice Chairmen held in Uhunmwode, Mr. Obazee emphasized the critical role of party leaders at the grassroots in sustaining the party's dominance and expanding its support base across the local government.

According to him, the meeting, which is the first of its kind since the election of the current ward executives, was convened to chart a common course for effective political mobilization, strengthen party structures, and align local efforts with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the developmental agenda of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as the "Akpakomiza" Governor.

Mr. Obazee noted that the task of mobilizing support for the APC would be greatly facilitated by the visible developmental strides being recorded across Uhunmwode Local Government under the leadership of the Council Chairman, Hon. Austin Imafidon. He stated that the achievements of the council administration provide a strong foundation upon which party leaders can engage residents and attract more supporters to the APC.

The APC Vice Chairman further urged all Ward Vice Chairmen to reach out beyond party lines and build wider political relationships capable of increasing voter support for the party in their respective wards.

"We must continue to engage our people at the grassroots, promote the achievements of our leaders, and ensure that every ward contributes significantly to the realization of the 2.5 million votes target promised by our Governor," he said.

He disclosed that the gathering would evolve into a regular think-tank forum where party leaders would continually strategize on effective mobilization, membership expansion, voter education, and the sustenance of the APC's political momentum ahead of future elections.

Attendance at the meeting reflected strong commitment from party leaders, with representatives from six of the ten wards present. Ward 1 and Ward 8 were absent due to communication challenges, as they reportedly did not receive notice of the meeting, while Ward 7 and Ward 9 were officially excused owing to pressing engagements.

Participants at the meeting commended the initiative and pledged their commitment to strengthening the party's structures at the ward level while working collectively to ensure the APC records overwhelming electoral success in future elections.

The meeting ended with a renewed resolve among attendees to deepen grassroots engagement, foster unity within the party, and support ongoing to efforts to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

_BUILDING THE FUTURE: HON. AUSTIN IMAFIDON PROMOTES YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN GOVERNANCE_

When leadership is tested not merely by the roads it constructs or the speeches it delivers, but by the opportunities it creates for the next generation to rise. Across Uhunmwode Local Government Area, one leadership style is steadily redefining governance through inclusion, vision, and youth engagement. That leadership is embodied in the administration of the Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Austin Imafidon.

At a time when many young people across the nation battle discouragement, unemployment, political exclusion, and uncertainty about the future, Hon. Austin Imafidon has continued to demonstrate that governance must not only speak to the youths but must actively involve them in shaping society. His administration has become a growing symbol of youth driven governance, where the younger generation is not treated as spectators but as stakeholders in the developmental process.

The strength of any society lies in the energy, creativity, and ideas of its youth population. History has repeatedly shown that nations and communities that invest in their young people inevitably position themselves for long-term progress. Understanding this reality, Hon. Austin Imafidon has consistently opened doors for youth participation within the political and administrative structure of Uhunmwode.

Through empowerment initiatives, political inclusiveness, empowerment opportunities, and grassroots mobilization, many young people have found renewed hope and confidence in governance. His leadership style reflects accessibility and trust, qualities that have enabled many youths to see politics not as a distant institution reserved for a privileged few, but as a platform where their voices and contributions matter.

One remarkable aspect of his administration is the deliberate encouragement of young minds within party structures and community leadership. In an era where political participation among youths is often weakened by frustration and lack of opportunity, Hon. Austin Imafidon continues to build bridges between experience and youthful innovation. He understands that sustainable leadership is achieved when the wisdom of elders is harmonized with the strength and ideas of the younger generation.

Beyond politics, his approach to governance reflects a deeper understanding of social responsibility. Youth development is not merely about appointments or public appearances; it is about creating an environment where young people can grow intellectually, economically, and socially. This philosophy continues to shape the relationship between his administration and the youths of Uhunmwode.

Today, many young individuals within the local government have become more active in community engagement, party activities, leadership discussions, and developmental conversations because they have found encouragement in a leadership that listens and values their contributions. This growing political consciousness among the youths is gradually building a more united and forward looking Uhunmwode.

Like an old African proverb says, “The child who is carried on the back today learns the path tomorrow.” Hon. Austin Imafidon appears to understand this timeless wisdom clearly. By carrying the youths along in governance today, he is preparing a future generation of responsible leaders who will continue the work of development and unity tomorrow.

Leadership is not measured only by present achievements but by the legacy it leaves behind. A leader who empowers the youth plants seeds that generations will harvest. Through his inclusive leadership and commitment to youth participation, Hon. Austin Imafidon is not merely governing for today; he is building the future.

The future of Uhunmwode is brighter when its youths are inspired, empowered, and given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to governance. And in that journey toward a stronger tomorrow, Hon. Austin Imafidon continues to set the pace.
