Happy International Women’s Day 2026
Theme: Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls
Slogan: Give To Gain

International Women’s Day, is a powerful moment for the world to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women and girls in every sphere of life. It is a day to reflect on the journey of women who, despite numerous social, economic, and cultural barriers, continue to rise, lead, nurture, and transform communities.
On this significant occasion,

Caring Heart Initiative (CHIADE) joins the global community in celebrating women everywhere, women who nurture families as mothers, women who cultivate the land as farmers, women who sustain markets as traders, women who excel in their professions, and young girls who carry the dreams and possibilities of the future. Each of these women, in her own space, contributes meaningfully to the growth and stability of society.
Across Africa and and here in Nigeria, women often navigate life within systems that present many challenges. Some have endured hardship, injustice, and deep personal struggles. Others have survived violence, abandonment, or emotional trauma. Yet many women continue to demonstrate extraordinary courage and determination, choosing to rise above their circumstances. They choose to stay strong for their children, their families, their dreams, and their purpose. Their stories are not just stories of survival; they are stories of resilience, strength, and unwavering hope.

At Caring Heart Initiative, we believe that when women are supported, empowered, and protected, communities become stronger, safer, and more prosperous. Through advocacy, counseling, community education, and the use of alternative dispute resolution approaches, our organization works to promote healing, justice, dignity, and peaceful solutions for women and families facing conflict, abuse, and emotional distress.
International Women’s Day is also a call to action. Women must continue to seek knowledge, education, and opportunities that strengthen their independence and confidence. Economic empowerment remains a vital pathway for women to secure their dignity and make meaningful decisions about their lives and families. Women are encouraged to stay informed, acquire skills, develop their talents, and pursue excellence in their chosen paths. By doing so, they not only uplift themselves but also contribute significantly to the progress of their communities and nations.

Today, we celebrate the countless women who have stood tall over the years despite the complexities of traditional and societal expectations. We celebrate the quiet strength of women who work daily to provide for their families. We celebrate the women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, advocates, and community builders who continue to open doors for others. We celebrate the young girls who are learning to find their voices and believe in their potential.
Caring Heart Initiative also acknowledges and appreciates the ministries, institutions, organizations, and individuals who continue to champion policies, programs, and initiatives that advance the rights, protection, and empowerment of women and girls. Their commitment contributes greatly to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
To every woman who is striving, surviving, succeeding, or still hoping—today we celebrate you. Your strength inspires generations. Your resilience transforms communities. Your courage shapes a better future.

As we mark International Women’s Day 2026, let us continue to support one another, share knowledge, build opportunities, and stand firmly for justice and equality. When women are supported and empowered, everyone benefits.
Give To Gain.

Strong Women Are Collapsing Quietly: Why Resilience for GBV Survivors Must Be Built, Not Forced

In communities across Nigeria and beyond, women who survive sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and gender-based violence (GBV) are often described with one word: STRONG.

“She is resilient.”
“She has moved on.”
“She is coping.”
“She is doing well.”
But behind that strength, many are collapsing quietly.

At Caring Heart Initiative for Advocacy Development and Empowerment (CHIADE), we work closely with women and girls navigating the long road of recovery after abuse, assault, domestic violence, trafficking, emotional manipulation, or prolonged coercion.
One truth continues to surface: Survival strength is heavy.
And when resilience is misunderstood, women pay the price with their bodies, minds, and emotional stability.

The Hidden Weight of “Being Strong”
A survivor may be:
••Attending court proceedings while raising children.
••Running a small business while managing trauma triggers.
••Caring for others while suppressing her own emotional breakdowns.
••Smiling in public while battling insomnia.
••Participating in empowerment programs while struggling with panic attacks.

The world applauds her recovery.
Only ask how her body is COPING.
Unprocessed trauma does not disappear.
It stores itself.
Research and lived experience show that prolonged stress and trauma exposure can contribute to:
~~Elevated blood pressure
~~Hormonal imbalance
~~Chronic fatigue
~~Anxiety disorders
~~Depression
~~Sleep disturbances
~~Low immunity
~~Iron deficiency linked to stress-related menstrual irregularities.
Trauma lives in the nervous system.
When it is suppressed instead of processed, the body eventually reacts.

This is why at CHIADE, we emphasize a critical distinction:
Resilience is not suppression.
Resilience is structured healing.
Why Suppression is Dangerous
Many women are taught to endure.
To “be strong for the children.”
To “move on quietly.”
To “avoid shame.”
To “not reopen wounds.”
But silence is not safety.
When trauma is buried without professional guidance, it may resurface through:
Emotional outbursts
Sudden withdrawal
Chronic body pain without clear diagnosis
Irritability or numbness
Relationship instability
Burnout
Physical collapse
Strength without rest becomes danger.
Endurance without support becomes breakdown.

At CHIADE, we refuse to romanticize silent suffering.
The CHIADE Approach: Building Sustainable Resilience
Resilience must be built carefully, intentionally, and holistically.

Our framework supports survivors through four structured phases:
1. Stabilization: Safety Before Strength
Before empowerment comes safety.
We provide:
Immediate psychosocial support
Crisis intervention
Safe referrals
Emotional grounding sessions
Confidential listening spaces
°°°A survivor cannot rebuild if she is still in survival mode.
We help calm the nervous system first.

2. Guided Trauma Processing
Healing is not about forgetting.
It is about safely unpacking what happened.
Through trauma-informed counselling and therapy referrals, survivors are supported to:
Understand their trauma responses
Identify triggers
Reframe self-blame
Regain emotional regulation skills
Learn healthy coping strategies
This stage prevents unhealthy suppression that later manifests as physical or emotional crisis.

3. Reintegration and Identity Rebuilding
Violence steals more than safety.
It steals identity.
We support women to:
Rebuild confidence
Restore voice and self-worth
Set healthy boundaries
Develop communication skills
Reconnect with purpose
Resilience grows when a woman remembers who she is beyond what happened to her.

4. Empowerment and Economic Strengthening
Financial vulnerability often keeps women trapped in cycles of abuse.
CHIADE supports:

▪︎▪︎▪︎Skill acquisition referrals
▪︎▪︎▪︎Economic empowerment pathways
▪︎▪︎▪︎Advocacy education
▪︎▪︎▪︎Leadership inclusion
▪︎▪︎▪︎Community reintegration programs
True resilience is not just emotional recovery.
It includes social and economic stability.
Health Monitoring is Not Optional
Women healing from GBV must be encouraged to prioritize physical health alongside emotional recovery.

We consistently advocate that survivors:
Check blood pressure regularly
Monitor iron levels and hormonal health
Hydrate intentionally
Maintain structured sleep routines
Seek medical evaluations when fatigue persists
Avoid self-medicating emotional pain

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You cannot build resilience in a collapsing body.
Your children do not need a collapsing hero.
They need a healthy mother.
Your community does not need your silent endurance.
It needs your sustainable strength.
▪︎▪︎▪︎Resilience Without Rest is Risk
One of the most dangerous myths in survivor spaces is that constant productivity equals healing.
But resilience requires:
●Rest. ●Boundaries. ●Support systems. ●Medical awareness. ●Professional guidance. And ●Safe conversations.
At CHIADE, we teach women that saying “I need help” is not weakness. ■It is wisdom.
To Survivors: You Are Not Failing
If you are tired, it does not mean you are weak.
If you are triggered, it does not mean you are ungrateful for progress.
If you need therapy, it does not mean you are unstable.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
It means you are healing.
Healing is not linear.
Resilience is not instant.
Strength must be sustainable.
We Call on Communities Partners and Families,
▪︎▪︎▪︎Stop pressuring survivors to “move on” prematurely.
Religious leaders,
▪︎▪︎▪︎Create safe referral pathways for professional support.
Employers,
▪︎▪︎▪︎Understand trauma-sensitive environments.
Policy actors,
▪︎▪︎▪︎Fund survivor-centered, long-term healing services.
Healthcare providers, ▪︎▪︎▪︎Integrate trauma screening into routine care.
SGBV recovery is not a one-day intervention.
It is a journey.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Strong women are collapsing quietly, especially those rebuilding after violence.
At CHIADE we are committed to ensuring that resilience is built safely, healthily, and sustainably.
●We do not clap for burnout.
●We do not glorify suppression.
□We do not push survivors to perform strength.
We guide healing.
Because resilience should not cost a woman her life.
If you are a survivor or know someone in need of trauma-informed support, reach out.
You do not have to carry the weight alone.
IWD 2026, Give To Gain Campaign encourages a mindset of generosity.
Sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is key.
🌸 Growing Too Soon?
A Parent’s Guide to Supporting Children Through Early Puberty
As parents and caregivers, we are not just guardians, we are our children’s first teachers, first protectors, and first emotional support system.
Today, early puberty is becoming more common, and recognizing the signs early can make a powerful difference in a child’s physical health, emotional stability, and self-esteem.
When changes begin earlier than expected, children may feel confused, embarrassed, or overwhelmed. That is why parental awareness and active support are critical.
Early Signs of Puberty to Watch For
1️⃣ Body Odour and Acne
A strong body smell, oily skin, or early pimples can signal that puberty hormones are activating sweat and oil glands, even before other visible changes appear. These are often subtle but important early indicators.
2️⃣ Breast or Ge***al Development
In girls, breast development before ages 8–9 may be an early sign of puberty.
In boys, early enlargement of the te**es or p***s may indicate the same.
These physical changes often show up before other noticeable signs.
3️⃣ Sudden Rapid Height Growth
If your child begins growing much taller quickly compared to peers, puberty hormones may already be active. Early puberty commonly starts with a rapid growth spurt.
4️⃣ Emotional and Mood Changes
Increased mood swings, irritability, sensitivity, withdrawal, or sudden changes in behavior may occur. A child experiencing early puberty may struggle emotionally because their body is changing before they fully understand what is happening.
💛 The Role of Parents▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
Be Their Safe Space》》》》
Early puberty is not just a physical journey, it is an emotional one. Children going through it need:
**Open conversations without shame
**Reassurance that their bodies are normal and developing
**Guidance on hygiene and self-care
**Emotional validation
**Protection from bullying, exploitation, or misinformation.
Silence creates confusion. Awareness builds confidence.
•••At Caring Heart Initiative, we emphasize that parents must intentionally position themselves as their child’s first line of support. When children feel safe asking questions at home, they are less likely to seek answers from harmful or misleading sources.
What You Can Do as a Parent
•••Start age-appropriate conversations about body changes early.
•••Teach healthy hygiene practices.
•••Watch for emotional distress and respond with patience.
•••Avoid shaming language about body development.
•••Seek medical advice if puberty appears significantly early.
•••Pray and commit them into Gods hand.
Early awareness + active parental support = healthier, more confident children.
Let us raise children who feel informed, protected, and emotionally secure, not confused or ashamed.
CHIADE Calls for Sustained Commitment and Investment Towards an FGM-Free 2030
Caring Heart Initiative for Advocacy Development and Empowerment (CHIADE) joins the global community today, 6th February, 2026, to commemorate the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).
CHIADE strongly reaffirms her commitment to the prevention, education, awareness creation, advocacy, and health support against female ge***al mutilation, which remains one of the most harmful traditional practices and a grave violation of the fundamental human rights of girls and women.
This year’s global theme, “Towards 2030: No End to FGM Without Sustained Commitment and Investment,” emphasizes that ending FGM by the year 2030 requires accelerated action, increased political will, and deliberate financial investment.
The urgency is clear: over 4 million girls are estimated to be at risk this year 2026, and meeting the 2030 elimination target demands a 27-fold increase in the pace of change.
CHIADE stresses that FGM is not a cultural pride, rite of passage, discipline, or tradition. It is violence. It is a harmful practice carried out for non-medical reasons, leaving short-term and lifelong consequences on physical, sexual, reproductive, and mental health.
Survivors may experience severe bleeding, infections, chronic pain, psychological trauma, sexual dysfunction, and complications in childbirth.
In line with CHIADE’s 2026 intensified campaign, the organization is prioritizing direct engagement with the most affected and influential stakeholders, including young girls, families, traditional health practitioners, traditional rulers, and custodians of culture.
CHIADE’s campaign focuses strongly on the protection of children who have little or no power to decide whether they are mutilated or not. The organization is also committed to educating girls and young women not to perpetuate the practice in the future, especially in family settings where harmful cultural norms are often passed down.
CHIADE is further calling on traditional health practitioners to reject all forms of FGM and embrace safe, rights-respecting community health roles. We are reaching out to traditional rulers and cultural leaders to support the abolition of harmful practices and promote cultural values that protect human dignity rather than violate it.
CHIADE urges governments, development partners, civil society organizations, the private sector, faith leaders, the media, and the general public to invest practically in ending FGM by: breaking silos through integrating FGM prevention into education, health, and economic empowerment programs; scaling funding through domestic resource mobilization and private sector engagement; supporting data-driven decisions through investment in national data systems; and utilizing influence through advocacy and public education to challenge the social norms that perpetuate FGM.
CHIADE reiterates that zero tolerance must mean zero excuses, zero justification, and zero compromise.
Today we call on all stakeholders to join in our all year round campaign in all ways possible to protect girls, support survivors, and strengthen community systems for long-term change.
As the world moves towards 2030, CHIADE stands firm: There will be no end to female ge***al mutilation without sustained commitment and investment.
Positioning for 2026: A Roadmap for Effective Productivity and Impact
2026 is not just another year on the calendar for us, it is a year of intentional growth, clarity of purpose, and strengthened impact.
Over the past weeks, our team came together with one shared commitment: to thoughtfully review our journey, assess our strengths, confront our gaps, and deliberately design a strategic plan that will drive effective productivity and meaningful results in 2026 and beyond. This process was not rushed. It was reflective, collaborative, and purpose-driven.
Our strategic plan for 2026 is built on clear priorities, measurable goals, strengthened systems, and people-centered approaches that ensure sustainability, accountability, and excellence in service delivery. Every objective aligns with our core values, our vision for impact, and our responsibility to the communities, partners, and stakeholders we serve.
We are stepping into 2026 with renewed focus, stronger coordination, and an unwavering resolve to work smarter, not just harder. This plan positions us to optimize resources, enhance teamwork, improve outcomes, and respond more effectively to emerging needs.
As we move forward, we remain committed to transparency, innovation, continuous learning, and impact-driven action. We believe that when strategy meets purpose, productivity becomes meaningful and transformation becomes possible.
We are excited about the road ahead and deeply grateful to every team member, partner, and supporter who contributed ideas, insights, and dedication to shaping this strategic direction.
Here is to a focused, productive, and impactful 2026, built on vision, collaboration, and intentional action.
