Rotary Club of Awka G.R.A The Rotary Club of Awka GRA was chartered on the 28th of June, 2002. We meet at Milatel Hotel and Suites, GRA Awka, every Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

We are a vibrant service oriented Rotary Club and currently maintain an average of over 30 members.

Project Title: Maternal and Child Health Programme

Host Club: Rotary Clubs in Anambra State, namely: Awka GRA, Awka, Awka Metropolis, Onitsha East, Onitsha Sunrise, Onitsha Metropolis, Onitsha Royal, Nibo, Awka Smithtown, Awka Urban, Umueri, Awka Central, Nnewi Urban, Nnewi, Amawbia Sportscity,

Venue: Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Neni, Anocha L.G.A, Anambra State.

Overview: The project was designed to create awareness and educate pregnant women and nursing mothers on healthy living and best practices in maternal and child health.

The Program featured:
*Talks by medical personnel to educate nursing mothers and pregnant women on the necessary diet, maternal and child health care and hygiene.

*Free medical consultations

*Laboratory tests (RBS & Malaria)

*Free prescribed medications

*Distribution of materials (pampers, wipes, mosquito nets, sanitary pads, etc) to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

*Donation of medication to the hospital management.

*Donation of medical equipment such as baby scales (2) to the hospital management.

Impact and Sustainability:
The maternal and child health project at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Neni, Anaocha L.G.A., Anambra State, created awareness about various issues affecting pregnant women and nursing mothers. The participants were excited to receive various healthcare materials.

The hospital management expressed their profound gratitude for the medications and equipment they received from Rotary Clubs in Anambra State and assured us of their commitment to serve and improve the lives and health of pregnant women and nursing mothers.
