Everything we do at Edubait Initiative is to position children in rural communities to succeed in life. We do this by making sure we inculcate sports values and create interest in learning among children in rural communities in Nigeria.
If we build values and create an interest in learning for rural children in Nigeria, illiteracy and poor school attendance will reduce because research shows that children who attend school regularly perform better than those who do not and have better opportunities to succeed in life.
While every child aspires to become great in life. Unfortunately, the current reality is that most children in Lemomu community are not on the right trajectory to achieve their life ambitions mostly as a result of their family's socioeconomic status and geographical location.
In a community full of dysfunctional homes, many out-of-school children, and a high rate of illiteracy, an urgent effort is required for these children to become responsible members of the community and the country at large.
Edubait Initiative uses sports activities to; teach values such as respect, equity, and inclusion to improve school attendance and enrollment in the community. We have realized that some of the barriers to peaceful co-existence in Nigeria are illiteracy, inequity, injustice, and lack of inclusiveness in our national life.
The edubait team is made up of two passionate young Nigerians who are currently Fellows of Teach For Nigeria , an organization that is committed to ending educational inequity in Nigeria's under-resourced classrooms and underserved communities.
The team members are outstanding university graduates with vast experience in project management, community service, and educational leadership.
We are raising the sum of 480, 000 (four hundred and fifty-eight thousand nairas) to purchase four footballs, ten chess boards, ten scrabble boards, ten skipping ropes, thirty jerseys, one swing, five programme manuals, etc to implement our project.
With your 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, and non-financial support we would be able to collectively ameliorate the high rate of illiteracy in at least 100 children in the community, develop sports values (equity, respect, and inclusion) among 140 school children and motivate many out-of-school children to enroll and attend school regularly.
