REPORT ON THE MEETING HELD ON 26TH MARCH 2026
Theme: “From Sympathy to Solutions for Disability in Nigeria”
On the 26th of March 2026, a high-level meeting themed “From Sympathy to Solutions for Disability in Nigeria” was successfully held in Asaba, Delta State. The meeting brought together Courageous Girl Women and Children Initiative and other key stakeholders, advocates, policymakers, and organizations committed to advancing the rights, inclusion, and welfare of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
Our organization was ably represented by Udeozor Uju Dylan, who delivered a compelling and insightful presentation during the session. She took over the stage to emphasize the urgent need to transition from mere expressions of sympathy toward practical, sustainable solutions that promote inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.
In her remarks, she highlighted:
The importance of inclusive policies and legal frameworks
Access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for persons with disabilities
The need for societal reorientation to eliminate stigma and discrimination
Strategic partnerships between government, NGOs, and the private sector to drive impactful change
Her presentation was well received and contributed significantly to the overall discussions, reinforcing the collective call for action and accountability.
Notably, the event received wide media coverage, as the discussion was aired live across multiple platforms, including DSTV, GOtv, and StarTimes, thereby reaching a broad national and international audience.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to move beyond rhetoric and implement actionable strategies that will improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
