📌 FIDA Calls for Urgent Action Against Digital Violence Targeting Women & Girls

FIDA Nigeria has sounded the alarm on the rising threat of online abuse against women and girls, including harassment, cyber-stalking, non-consensual image sharing, identity theft, and other forms of digital violence.

FIDA emphasises that although violence occurs online, emotional, psychological, and social damage is real, undermining women’s dignity, safety, and opportunity to participate fully in society.

FIDA NIGERIA urges for:
• Stronger enforcement of existing laws like the Cybercrimes Act 2015 and Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015.
• Increased digital safety awareness through community education, outreach in schools and youth centres, and accessible reporting & support mechanisms.
• Collective responsibility from government, civil society, tech platforms, parents, and every individual to create safe and supportive online spaces for women and girls.

👉 FIDA reminds every woman whose voice or image has been misused: “You are not alone. Your truth matters. We stand with you.”
