Nice
Was at DBS Asaba on Day 2 of the 16 Days Activism to talk about our programs especially with focus on some major *Red Lines* that the general society needs to get involved in.
Highlights was on different forms of GBV including types of Digital Violence, Domestic Violence, Emotional Violence, Sexual Violence, Economic Violence and Obnoxious widowhood practice and cultural violence.
A type of Digital Violence that I shared is the story of a young woman who reached out to me last month for help, which I did.
According to her, in her search for online job, a female (Employer) asked her to prepare for interview on online. The questions continued.....and she was asked to take a snapshot and send ...she did...she was then asked to send a full n**e picture, according to her, she didn't think straight until she has sent.....then the voice asked her to wait for her to get back.
After an hour, the voice Supposed Employer asked her to send #50,000.00 to an account or else all her information including the n**e picture will be uploaded!!!!.
Sharing this story for young people to be guided while online.
The Moderator of the Red Lines, Mr Tuoyo , mentioned *Personal Violence* which sounded reasonable too.
We both explored lack of self dignity and societal pressure as driving force for personal violence. Considering *Prostitution and Gigogolo* the attendant Dangers and effects of engaging in such enterprise can be avoided when young people abstain and engage in meaningful endeavors. Drug abuse should be guided against.
16 Days Activism against GBV is a time to create awareness on all forms of VAW/G
This campaign is a call to action for all!!!
And it should n
ot just be one-off. Society should continue to be vigilant and *speak up* for women and girls.
Time was taken to commend efforts of Community GEWE Advocates and CBOs that engage in actions throughout the year..!!!
Hat's up for All of us....For taking action not just during 16 Days Activism but for 365 Days!!!! Kudos dear community advocates and our partners who funds our activities at community level.
We at Working Fingers , Association Against Child SGBV - Main Page Association Against Child Sexual and Gender Based Violence needs support and encouragement to continue with what we do at community level.
