Skill acquisition and empowerment program are critical areas of focus for the economic and social development of Nigeria, especially in the face of current challenges. Nigeria, with its youthful population and rapidly growing workforce, has a significant opportunity to harness this human capital through our Amuvi re-orientation, vocational training, apprenticeship and empowerment initiatives. This approach will help address the twin issues of unemployment and underemployment, which have long hindered the nationโs progress.

๐. ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ: Nigeria faces high rates of unemployment, particularly among the youth. Traditional education systems often do not provide students with practical, market-ready skills. Amuvi Skill acquisition and empowerment programs bridge this gap by equipping our youths with technical and vocational skills that meet the demands of the job market. Skills like Solar installation, Fish and poultry farming, integrated farming, garment making/fashion designing, Interlocking, plumbing and pipefitting, computer graphics, software and hardware services, hair dressing, cosmetology and make-over, etc offer sustainable job opportunities for our youths.
2. ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ก: Our five-step model (Re-orientation, vocational training, apprenticeship, empowerment and monitoring and evaluation ensures that our youths empowered with skills that allows them to create their own businesses and become self-employed. Our feedback mechanism through M & E play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our youthโs entrepreneurial growth, particularly in reducing dependence on government jobs and corporate employment by strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
3. ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฒ: Before now, lack of employment opportunities frustrated and drove our youths into a lot of deviant behaviours and unethical activities that go against societal norms, moral principles, and established laws. These behaviours disrupted the social order and have negative consequences for individuals, families, and communities. Our skill acquisition program provided an alternative, offering a path toward a dignified livelihood. It plays a pivotal role in poverty alleviation by giving individuals the means to support themselves and their families. We are very happy to have chosen this path.

1. ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ: Empowering youths goes beyond just acquiring skills; it builds confidence, self-worth, and a sense of purpose. That is why our empowerment initiative includes mentorship, networking opportunities, and resources that allows our youths to apply their skills effectively and efficiently. The saying that โwhen people feel empowered, they are more likely to take initiative and contribute positively to their communitiesโ is our driving force.
2. ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ: Gender equality is at the centre of our program because empowerment programs are especially important for women, who often face barriers to education and employment. By providing equal access to skill acquisition and training in areas like catering services, hairdressing, cosmetology, fashion design etc, women can participate more actively in the workforce, contributing to household incomes and national economic growth.
3. ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ: Empowerment is not only about individual success; it also translates to stronger communities. When members of a community are skilled and empowered, they can drive local development. This reduces the pressure on urban centres by creating opportunities in rural areas, thereby curbing rural-to-urban migration. Amuvi in Arochukwu is ahead in this.

1. ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ: The lack of adequate training facilities, materials, and access to modern technology hinders the effectiveness of our skill acquisition programs. Many initiatives suffer from underfunding and poor implementation and our is not left out. We need individual, group, and government assistance to achieve our goal.
2. ๐๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ: Even when individuals acquire skills, the lack of access to financing and business support limits their ability to start businesses or pursue career opportunities. We calling on Microfinance institutions and government programs to come to our aid to enable us expanded to support new entrepreneurs.

Skill acquisition and empowerment are essential for Nigeriaโs progress in the 21st century.
