Scripture Union Nigeria is an interdenominational, non-denominational, not for profit Christian organization committed to reaching children and young people, nurturing them through bible engagement to become committed Christians. Scripture Union began on 2 June 1867 in the home of Thomas Hughes in the London suburb of Islington. Some fourteen young children were there to attend a children's meetin
g led by Josiah Spiers. Scripture Union Nigeria today now works in over 150 areas in about 30 states around Nigeria; and is still working to introduce children and young people to Jesus through volunteers by running camps, school groups or producing resources for Bible reading, family counseling, AIDS education, urban children and youth ministry.
