..A quiet presence of care

From widows living with physical challenges to families confronting life's toughest realities,WAOH goes beyond intervention. It stays the course, walking alongside the vulnerable, offering consistent care, inclusive support, and humane attention that does not waver with time or circumstance.
This is a quiet restoration of dignity, the steady presence of care, and the hope that refuses to fade from the Office of Her Excellency.
And that is precisely why continuity matters.

ADO EKITI | Wednesday 15th January, 2025

I started my community services for the year 2025 with the renewal of scholarships for 50 orphans in some public primary and secondary schools across some selected towns and villages of Ekiti State.

It can be recalled last year, that 50 Orphans (both single and doubled orphans) from public primary schools in Ekiti State were awarded scholarship from primary school to the University, by the management of Premium Trust Bank in partnership with WAOH foundation; my pet project through which I reached out to the vulnerables in the State, during the second year anniversary of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Represented by the Coordinator of “Widows Aged and Orphans Hope Initiative (WAOH)” together with other staff of my office, we hit the ground running with the continuation of our core vision and mission proudly supported by my husband, His Excellency Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and other individuals who have made this initiative come to life.

I used the platform to appeal to the guardians of the children to make their upkeep a priority and not to divert their upkeep allowance. Consequently, I promised to always give out their upkeep allowance every term.

Not only did I admonish the guardians, but I also encouraged and charged the beneficiaries to work hard, stay focused, and aim for excellence in their academic endeavor. They were reminded that their success is the success of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.

For their financial support for 2nd term, 25,000 Naira was given to each of the beneficiaries. In addition to that, school bags containing academic aid items like textbooks, notebooks, water bottles, school uniforms, school sandals, and mathematical sets were also distributed to each beneficiary.

Special thanks to my team members: Hon Toyin Adepoju, SAPOL; Dr Eunice Fasanmi, SSA Advocacy, and others for the good representation.

Children are God’s heritage. Therefore, their welfare must be prioritized!

Her Excellency ,who was represented by the Project Coordinator, Widows Aged and Orphans Hope Support Foundation, WAOH, Mrs Kemi Dairo, noted that Widows were carefully selected from all Local governments in the State.

The women received food palliatives and cash relief, which would help to alleviate their plight and also give them a sense of belonging and joy in the yuletide season.

The widows ,who were elated at the gesture, were beaming with smiles and appreciation to the continuous thoughtfulness and care of the Ekiti State First Lady and vowed to always support Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji's administration .

Ekiti First Lady Offers Life-Changing Support to Widow and Her Children

In a remarkable act of compassion, Ekiti State First Lady, Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji extended a lifeline today to a widow facing daunting challenges in caring for her three children. The widow, overwhelmed by the struggle to provide for her family, arrived at the First Lady's office with a heart full of hope and eyes clouded by uncertainty. Her plea for help struck a chord with the First Lady, who is widely celebrated for her empathy and dedication to the welfare of Ekiti’s vulnerable citizens.

Responding promptly, the First Lady, through the Women Advancement and Welfare Office of Hope (WAOH), empowered the widow by presenting her with a grinding machine. This vital support offers her a sustainable means to earn a livelihood and bring stability to her family. With tears of gratitude, the widow thanked the First Lady for this generous act, expressing newfound hope for a brighter future for her children.

This gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the First Lady to uplift and transform lives across Ekiti State. God bless our compassionate and caring BAORESS.

| 21st October 2024 |

A beautiful outing it was, I must confess, as my pet project, "Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope Initiative" (WAOH), turns 2 years.

I am really grateful to the Almighty God for the privilege to touch lives again and to give hope to the widows, both active and inactive. Similarly, orphans in Universities and Polytechnics in Ekiti weren't left out, and about 50 Orphans in public primary schools in Ekiti were awarded full scholarships to see them through their tertiary education.

I was excited to have my husband, His Excellency Governor Biodun Oyebanji, graced the occasion with his presence and to support me in his usual manner.
He awarded scholarships to 40 orphans across the LGAs, LCDAS, and to people living with disabilities.
The scholarship, which was granted through the foundation of his late mother, would see them through their university education.
Likewise, the governor awarded scholarship to one orphan in each of the tertiary institutions in the state from 100L to their final year.
It was a time to charge all present, especially the dignitaries, to always extend their benevolence to the orphans and widows in the society.
Special thanks to everyone that contributed to the success recorded at the event starting from the people's Governor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; The Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Steven Aribasoye (MD Premium Trust Bank); Mr Emmanuel Emefienim, Engineer Oseni, and others too numerous to mention and distinguished personalities that graced the occasion.
Let's do it again next year by His grace!
