ADO EKITI | Wednesday 15th January, 2025
I started my community services for the year 2025 with the renewal of scholarships for 50 orphans in some public primary and secondary schools across some selected towns and villages of Ekiti State.
It can be recalled last year, that 50 Orphans (both single and doubled orphans) from public primary schools in Ekiti State were awarded scholarship from primary school to the University, by the management of Premium Trust Bank in partnership with WAOH foundation; my pet project through which I reached out to the vulnerables in the State, during the second year anniversary of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
Represented by the Coordinator of “Widows Aged and Orphans Hope Initiative (WAOH)” together with other staff of my office, we hit the ground running with the continuation of our core vision and mission proudly supported by my husband, His Excellency Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and other individuals who have made this initiative come to life.
I used the platform to appeal to the guardians of the children to make their upkeep a priority and not to divert their upkeep allowance. Consequently, I promised to always give out their upkeep allowance every term.
Not only did I admonish the guardians, but I also encouraged and charged the beneficiaries to work hard, stay focused, and aim for excellence in their academic endeavor. They were reminded that their success is the success of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.
For their financial support for 2nd term, 25,000 Naira was given to each of the beneficiaries. In addition to that, school bags containing academic aid items like textbooks, notebooks, water bottles, school uniforms, school sandals, and mathematical sets were also distributed to each beneficiary.
Special thanks to my team members: Hon Toyin Adepoju, SAPOL; Dr Eunice Fasanmi, SSA Advocacy, and others for the good representation.
Children are God’s heritage. Therefore, their welfare must be prioritized!
