Through collaboration with NEWSAN Ekiti State and other member organizations, SWAAN joined a joint outreach in Aba-Egbira (Ori-Okuta) that delivered real impact. The coalition provided reusable and disposable menstrual pads to teenage girls, including an 18-month supply for two young champions, and challenged harmful cultural myths about periods. We also led a live handwashing demonstration to show how one simple habit breaks the chain of disease, and raised awareness on open defecation, which prompted the community leader to pledge toilet construction.
Working together, the team also addressed HIV, TB, and malaria by warning against sharing sharp objects, teaching that a persistent cough needs a free test, and reminding families that clean homes are malaria’s worst enemy. The collective effort ensured these health messages reached the community and sparked tangible commitments.
