And while we cheer from the sidelines, many children are growing up in schools with little shade, extreme heat, and fewer trees every year. That is why Greener Minds Club is launching *Kick for the Planet*, a mission to raise *₦500,000 to plant 250 trees across schools in Ekiti State.*

250 trees that will give children cleaner air.
250 trees that will create shade for students.
250 trees that will help protect the future we are leaving behind.

Because football is more than a game. It is community. It is childhood. It is hope.
And if we truly love the game, we must also protect the world it is played in.

Please support this mission with any amount you can through this link https://tgedfoundation.org/donate-now/ Together, we can plant a greener future for the next generation.

Throwing something away often feels small. Almost insignificant.

But it rarely ends there.

What we discard finds its way back into our environment; in blocked drains, polluted spaces, and the growing waste around us that we can no longer ignore.

At , students chose to think differently.

Using discarded materials like old clothes, newspapers, plastics, and fabric scraps, they transformed waste into creative fashion pieces, proving that sustainability can be practical, visible, and engaging.

But beyond the outfits, something more important happened:
they began to see waste differently.

And once that mindset shifts, habits can begin to change too.

This is what climate education should look like - practical, creative, and rooted in everyday life.

Watch the documentary. Share the message. Start the conversation.

Because sometimes, waste is not the end of a story.
It is the beginning of a different one.

Everything we do this week leaves a mark. While individual steps like switching off a light might seem small, they are the building blocks of a much larger movement toward environmental restoration.

Let's commit to two things this week:

1. Being aware of our energy and waste.
2. Championing actions that protect our planet's future.

Every small action counts in protecting our shared future.

The air we breathe today is a gift from someone who planted a tree decades ago. Now, it’s our turn to pay it forward.

While our conversations about climate change set the vision, it is the work we do with our hands that brings that vision to life. When we plant these trees, we aren't just beautifying a space, we are building a living shield against the sun and ensuring our children have a greener, more breathable home.

Let’s stop talking about a greener future and start planting one, one tree at a time.

As we mark , we are reminded that the future of our planet is not somewhere far away, it is shaped by the choices we make every single day. From how we consume energy to how we treat our environment, the responsibility is ours to carry.

The theme for Earth Day 2026, Our Power, Our Planet, calls us to recognize that real change begins with us. The future of our environment is being shaped quietly, daily, by the choices we make and the habits we continue.
This is a call to rise above indifference, to protect what sustains us, and to act with intention. Not perfectly, but consciously.

Because in the end, the power to uphold our planet has always been in our hands.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

Earth Day 2026 reminds us that power is more than electricity, it’s in our everyday choices.
In how we use energy, manage waste, and the habits we accept, we are shaping the environment around us.

Real change starts with awareness and small, intentional actions:

Use only the energy you need
Reduce the waste you create
Choose habits that protect the planet
Because the power we hold is not just in what we use, but in what we choose.
