The streets of Ado Ekiti came alive on Monday as members of the Ado Heritage Group commenced a large scale grassroots mobilisation campaign in support of the re election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
The mobilisation exercise, led by the group’s coordinator, Ademola Ayoola, moved through several key areas within the state capital, engaging residents and encouraging widespread support for the governor’s second term ambition.
During the tour, the campaign team visited Idofin, Mathew Street, Ojido Market, Enu Odi Market, and Ijigbo Street, where they interacted with traders, artisans, community stakeholders, and residents on the achievements recorded under the present administration. The team emphasised the need for continuity in governance to sustain ongoing developmental projects and social initiatives across the state.
Speaking during the mobilisation exercise, Otunba Ayoola alongside Mr. Odunayo Arinka stated that the campaign drive was designed to strengthen grassroots support for Governor Oyebanji and deliver an impressive electoral outcome in the forthcoming governorship poll. According to them, the target remains securing no fewer than 500,000 votes for the governor.
They noted that the Oyebanji administration has continued to earn public confidence through investments in infrastructure, economic advancement, social welfare programmes, and the promotion of peace and stability across Ekiti State. They added that these accomplishments justify renewed support from the electorate.
Members of the group, dressed in lemon green branded vests and customised caps, attracted attention across the various locations visited as they sang solidarity songs and distributed campaign materials to residents and supporters.
At different stops along the campaign route, market leaders and community representatives commended the governor’s performance and praised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State. They also assured the campaign team of massive voter participation and support during the election.
The mobilisation exercise received enthusiastic responses from residents across the communities visited, with many expressing satisfaction with Governor Oyebanji’s leadership style and pledging continued support for his administration.
