Our Executive Director attended the 2026 International Women's Day celebration organized by the Women’s Wing of the Abuja Association of the Deaf.
Centred around the powerful theme "Give To Gain," the colourful event brought together Deaf women, disability advocates, and development partners in a vibrant atmosphere of solidarity, inspiration, and motivation.
During the event, our Founder and CEO, Mr. Sylvester Umezurike, delivered a moving goodwill message. He applauded the organizers for hosting such a historic event and reiterated the foundation’s core belief: inclusion is a right, not a favor. He emphasized that our support for the celebration is a direct investment in the visibility and empowerment of Deaf women, who continue to lead, excel, and break societal barriers with unmatched resilience.
The Women Leader of the association, Mrs. Jumai Hosea, delivered a stirring charge, urging Deaf women to embrace entrepreneurship and boost their productivity as pathways to self-reliance and economic independence. She reminded everyone that Deaf women possess immense, transformative potential that must be harnessed, while calling for continued, urgent advocacy toward equality, dignity, and respect.
The Yagazie Weng Umezurike Foundation remains incredibly proud to partner with the Abuja Association of the Deaf. We stand hand-in-hand with these phenomenal women as they shatter boundaries and occupy spaces that foster true social and economic inclusion!
