Many workplaces are losing productivity… but not for the reasons they think.

Employees are showing up to work every day carrying:
Financial pressure
Family responsibilities
Personal mental and emotional stress

And while they are physically present...their performance is quietly flying out of the windows.

As leaders, managers, and business owners, this is not about blame— it’s about awareness and response.
Because whether we acknowledge it or not,
these realities are already showing up in our workplaces.

That’s why I’m hosting a private executive session in Abuja:

GBV IS NOT JUST VIOLENCE — IT IS A LIFETIME MENTAL HEALTH SENTENCE FOR MANY WOMEN.

And the silence around it is killing more futures than we admit.

📌 1 in 3 Nigerian women will experience gender-based violence in their lifetime.
📌 Over 57% of survivors develop long-term mental health conditions — depression, PTSD, anxiety, suicidal thoughts.
📌 Most never receive help because “our culture teaches women to endure.”
📌 Cyber-bullying against women is rising, with teenage girls at 3x higher risk of emotional breakdown.
📌 Drug abuse is becoming a coping mechanism for thousands of young women hiding emotional pain.

These are not numbers — they are mothers, daughters, wives, sisters.
If we keep quiet, we become part of the problem.

This year, we are choosing action.

Join us for a powerful virtual seminar:

🟥 CALL FOR PAPERS

All over the world, countries have witnessed different and varying forms of security threats with serious implications for international security, peace, and development.
The African continent, in particular, has continued to grapple with security challenges that undermine peace efforts, disrupt governance, and hinder sustainable development.

While national, regional, and international actors have evolved various strategies to contain these threats, many of these interventions often result in unsustainable conflicts and crises.

This situation has brought to the fore the urgent need for alternative and complementary strategies that go beyond military solutions — one such approach is Community Security.

Community Security is a participatory and people-centered process that empowers local communities to take ownership of their safety and collaborate with authorities in managing risks, resolving disputes, and building resilience.

Despite the growing recognition of community-driven security, these initiatives remain weak, underutilized, and poorly integrated into national security frameworks across Africa.

It is against this backdrop that the African Peace Institute for Social Research, in conjunction with partners, is organizing this international conference with the theme:
Community Security Initiatives for Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa.

The event will provide a platform for dialogue among policymakers, security actors, civil society, and local communities to strengthen participatory community security frameworks and explore innovative strategies for peace and development.
