Today, as the world celebrates International Women's Day, we reflect on the strength, courage, and resilience of women who continue to rise even after unimaginable loss.
In many conflict-affected communities in Plateau State, widows carry the invisible weight of grief, responsibility, and survival. After losing their spouses to years of violence, many women are left to rebuild their lives while caring for children and navigating deep economic and emotional challenges.
At Midpoint Nigeria, we believe that every woman deserves not just survival, but stability, dignity, and opportunity.
Through our “From Survival to Stability” initiative, we are committed to walking alongside widows across Plateau communities by:
✨ Providing livelihood and vocational skills training
✨ Supporting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to strengthen financial independence
✨ Offering seed capital and mentorship for small businesses and agriculture
✨ Creating safe spaces for psychosocial healing, peer support, and community rebuilding
Our vision is simple but powerful:
To help women move from loss to leadership, from survival to stability, and from vulnerability to economic independence.
Because when women heal, families recover.
When women thrive, communities rebuild.
And when women are empowered, peace becomes possible.
This International Women's Day, we celebrate the courage of widows and recommit ourselves to building pathways for them to rise again.
Empowered women rebuild communities.
