We often believe that if we can't do something big for Nigeria, it's not worth doing. So we wait and nothing changes.

But communities aren't transformed by grand gestures. They're transformed by small acts, repeated consistently by ordinary people.

Mentor a child. Organize a clean-up. Fix what's broken. Show up.

You don't need to do something big. You need to do something small and keep doing it with others.

Every road that now feels ordinary was once untouched ground that someone crossed first.

We rarely think about them, the person who started the school, the association, the clean-up, the quiet effort that others later joined and eventually took for granted. But nothing that endures ever began crowded. It began with one person willing to leave the first mark on ground no one else had touched.

That is the hardest and most important step. Not because it takes strength, but because it takes conviction, the willingness to move before there is proof, before anyone else has followed.

Change does not begin with permission.

We often act as if it does. As if someone, somewhere, has to authorise us before we are allowed to fix the broken thing on our street, mentor the child next door, or organise the people around us. So we wait. And while we wait, the problem stays exactly where it is.

But no one is coming to grant permission. Real change has never worked that way. It begins the moment a citizen decides that the state of their community is now their responsibility, and acts on it.

That decision is the whole beginning. Everything else, the people, the plan, the progress, follows it.

So the only question that matters is the one you have been avoiding.

A Pod is the smallest unit of change in Nigeria.

People who live in the same community. One real problem they choose to solve. And the discipline to keep showing up until it is done.

Not a protest. Not a hashtag. Not a one-time clean-up that everyone forgets by Monday.

Just organised citizens, working steadily, in the place they already call home.

We say we love this country. We say we want it to work.
But belonging is not proved by what we say. It is proved by what we do.

You belong to Nigeria the moment you decide to build something in it. Not when you post about it. Not when you complain about it. When you show up for it.

That is what the Nigerian Tribe is.
Not a group you are born into, but one you join by doing the work.
Thirteen citizens. One community. One real problem. That is where belonging becomes visible.

Your tribe is waiting. So is the work.

In Nigeria, one of the first questions we ask a stranger is: what tribe are you? It is a question about where you come from. Who your people are. What you inherited.

But there is another tribe. One you are not born into. One you choose.

It has no single language, no ancestral village, no ethnic border. Its only requirement is a decision: to stop waiting, to take responsibility for your community, and to build the Nigeria we all say we want.

Call it the Nigerian Tribe. Citizens, from every background, who decided the country was theirs to build.

You cannot choose where you came from. You can choose this.

We all know the conversation. Someone’s child just left. Someone else is planning to. “There is nothing here for them,” we say, and we mean it.

But imagine the opposite.

A Nigeria where staying is not a sacrifice. Where the roads work, the schools teach, the clinics heal, and opportunity does not require a passport.

That Nigeria will not build itself. And no one is flying in to build it for us. It gets built by citizens who decided their community was worth the work. One Pod at a time.

Let us give the next generation a reason to stay.

You do not have to fix Nigeria. You only have to fix one thing, with a few people who care.

The whole country is too big to carry alone. One problem, in one community, with a few others, is not.
